It is quoted in full and is now printed for he first time. Thc writer (though the copy I have is not signed) was Kcnneth hlcPherrion, an old-time Scotsman of the good old school, who was lor ncarl y thirty years postmaster and gcncral mcrcllnnt at Lancaster, in Glengarry County, J-lc had been fourtcen years in Canada at 111c date of the writing of the lettcr, having come out with others as a follewcr of a Mr. Urrncnn Cameran, of 'I'hosa, who had hrou~htout quite a Scottish colony at that datc, wt~icll l~arl scttlcd in tllal locality. Mr. irlcPhcrsen's fathcr was John hfcl'herson, from Batlcnoclr, who took up lnrlrl claimed aftcswvards by his son, Kenncth McPt~ersoa, marricd a daughter of Alexander Rose, a UnitccI Empire Loyalist and had a Iarge family, one of which was the late Lieut .-Col. John hTcPherson, keepcr of AIiliria stores far Canada. RIr. McIJherson was evidently a prominent person in the Church as tvcll as in otl~crmatters in Ilis Iocality. The letter, which is cndorscd in his o\m handwriting as a copy, is as follows :- Laxcnsr~.~, rotlt Octohcr.
