Did You FishingOpportunities Spring is a great time to go fishing in Augusta County! As water temperatures gradually rise, fish become more and more active—which means more bites. Roger Ramsey has a 7th degree Black Belt in Karate, experience with Judo and Jujitsu and 40+ years of experience instructing. Melissa Bryant and Wayne Rankin both hold 6th degree Black Belts in Karate and have experience with Judo and Jujitsu. All participants will receive individual instruction and attention. Practices are Monday-Thursday beginning June 1st through July 20th at the pool in Stuarts Draft Park. Swimmers will learn the basics of competitive swimming such as starts, flip turns, and the four legal strokes to include the freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, and the butterfly stroke. Swim- mers will also have the opportunity to participate in four meets and a championship meet during the season. Meets are on Tuesday’s with warm-ups beginning at 5:30pm. Parent volunteers will be needed to help these meets run smoothly. In order to swim in the championship meet a swimmer must swim in at least 2 dual meets. Meet dates and times are still TBD. Fee includes a t-shirt and a swim cap. All swimmers should be able to swim the length of the pool lane on their stomachs and backs in order to participate. Registration deadline will be Tuesday, May 26th. Camp closed July 3, 2020 K.I.D.S. Camp provides safe and fun environments for children who have completed kindergarten through those going into 6th grade in the fall of 2020. There are exciting theme weeks, swimming, bowling, art, music, centers, visitors, and much more! Cereal and milk or breakfast bar and milk is provided daily until 8:30 a.m. Campers need to have a packed lunch and afternoon snack! Cost: $740.00 per child $80.00 non-refundable deposit due at sign up. Installments of $220 are due March 15th, April 15th and May 15th. Registration will be online only February 17-23, 2020. After February 23, 2020 you may register online, in-person, or over the phone. Spaces are limited so register early. Are you looking for something full of fun, games and excitement for your child for just a couple days a week this upcoming summer? If so, consider Summer RecConnect! For $250.00, your child will have lots of fun with other children playing two days a week for six weeks. This includes a field trip one day per week! The RecConnect Program at Stump Elementary School will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays and the RecConnect Program at Churchville Elementary School will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Parents will need to pack their child a lunch. Children must have completed Kindergarten and may be going into the 6th grade fall 2020 to attend. There will be a $25.00 non-refundable registration fee that is included in the total fee and must be paid at the time of registration. Registration will be online only February 17-23, 2020. After February 23, 2020 you may register online, in-person, or over the phone. Registration and full payment deadline is May 15, 2020. No refunds will be given for children who are withdrawn from the programs after May 1, 2020. The operation of the programs depends on enrolling the minimum requirement to maintain a quality recreational program. 4 Augusta County Parks & Recreation | Spring 2020 www.augustarec.com | 540-245-5727 5 1 Cheerleading I by Stretch-n-Grow Ages 3 /2 + The Stretch-n-Grow Cheerleading program is designed to teach the fundamental skills needed for cheerleading routines. Participants will learn arm motions, jumps and cheers needed to perform cheerleading skills. The classes will also emphasize the importance of regular exercise as a lifetime habit, as well as teach stretching and exercises to increase flexibility. Each child will receive a set of pompoms and a routine booklet during the first class (cost included in registration fee). Children should be dressed appropriately for exercise. Instructor is Stephanie Taylor. Register by April 1.
