Friday, September 26 • Sophomore forward Maddie Elia notched two goals while all three goaltenders split the No. 10 Minnesota Duluth 4 at UConn 4 (OT) shutout. McGill 4 at Vermont 0 (Ex) New Hampshire at Ohio State Queen’s 1 at No. 3 Boston College 10 (Ex) • First-year head coach Hilary Witt began her Hockey East career last weekend and kicked off the 2014-15 regular season at Maine. Margo Lund put the Wildcats on the board early, but Saturday, September 27 Maine scored twice to claim a 2-1 victory. New Hampshire 1 at Maine 2 * Maine vs. Robert Morris Minnesota Duluth 3 at UConn 0 • Maine opened the 2014-15 campaign with a 2-1 victory over the UNH Wildcats last weekend Queen’s 0 at No. 5 Boston University 3 (Ex) led by a pair of goals from Hailey Browne and Kelsey MacSorley. Montreal Stars 4 at Providence 1 (Ex) • MacSorely was named the Warrior Hockey Player of the Week for her game-winning goal. Providence at No. 9 Mercyhurst Sunday, September 28 • The Friars begin regular-season play at Mercyhurst after falling to the CWHL’s Montreal Stars Montreal Stars 4 at Northeastern 3 (Ex) in an exhibition game last weekend. Haley Frade notched the lone goal for Providence. • Providence split last season’s series with Mercyhurst 1-1 and has a 4-12-0 all-time record. UPCOMING GAMES Frade also scored the game-winning goal for the Friars in a win against Mercyhurst last year. UConn at No. 10 Quinnipiac Friday, October 3 • UConn enters the weekend coming off a 0-1-1 weekend with No. 10 Minnesota Duluth. No. 5 Boston University vs. St. Cloud State - 3 p.m. • Husky goaltender Elaine Chuli kicked out 54 shots in the tie and another 32 in the loss to New Hampshire at Ohio State - 6 p.m. garner WHEA Defensive Player of the Week honors. Robert Morris at Maine - 7 p.m. Vermont at Bemidji State; No. 8 North Dakota Providence at No. 9 Mercyhurst - 7 p.m. • After falling to McGill, 4-0, last weekend, Vermont holds a 1-6-1 all-time record against the UConn at No. 10 Quinnipiac - 7 p.m. defending CIS champions. Vermont at Bemidji State - 8 p.m. • The Catamounts travel to meet the Beavers for the first time since 2007, while last beating North Dakota, 2-1, on Jan. 7, 2003. UND is 8-0-2 against Vermont since that loss. Saturday, October 4 Syracuse at No. 3 Boston College Robert Morris at Maine - 1 p.m. • This is the third meeting between the Orange and the Eagles, with each team holding a 1-1-1 Syracuse at No. 3 Boston College - 2 p.m. record. New Hampshire at Ohio State - 2 p.m. • Boston College is coming off a 10-1 win over Queen’s that saw the return of Olympian Alex Providence at No. 9 Mercyhurst - 5 p.m. Carpenter to the Eagles’ roster and a hat trick by freshman Tori Sullivan.
