Vesturlandsveg, Iceland. Main research areas in recent years: Fish immunology, the main species studied: Atlantic cod, Atlantic salmon, Atlantic halibut, haddock and sea bass. In the last few years the main emphasis has been on studies of cod (Gadus morhua L.). From 1984 - 1985: Part time employment at The Rheumatology Research Centre, University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff for Dr. B. Williams. From 1969 - 1972: Research assistant to Dr. N. Blumson, Department of Biochemistry, The Queen's University of Belfast. OTHER ACTIVITIES Projects: Iceland’s representative in EU project: FISHAID (QLK2-2000-01076) 2000 – 2004 “Stimulation of fish larvae defence mechanisms against infectious diseases”, FISHAID; co-ordinator Roy Dalmo, Tromsø, Norway. Other participants: Tim Bowden and Ian Bricknell, Aberdeen, Scotland, Giuseppe Scapigliati, Viterbo, Italy and Jan Rombout, Wageningen, Holland. In Iceland: Sigríður Guðmundsdóttir, Keldur. October 1998: Spent one month at the Glycobiology Institute, University of Oxord at the invitation of Dr. Pauline Rudd, carrying out glycoanalysis of fish IgM. Co-ordinator of a Nordic project supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers 1996 – 1998: "The influence of environment and pathogens on the immune system of cod (Gadus morhua L.)".
