The evening shined light on not-for-profit Salama’s academic, leadership and performing- arts programs, which help higher-risk Nashville youth to gain the skills necessary for college, career and life success. Rutherford and Douglas—who both serve on Salama’s volunteer board of directors— brought A-list star power to a very special evening. Rutherford has written multiple Top 10 and #1 hits for artists ranging from Tim McGraw (“Real Good Man”) and Faith Hill (“When the Lights Go Down”) to Randy Travis (“Raise Him Up”) and Brooks & Dunn (“Ain’t Nothing ’Bout You”).
