A Bath Iyengar Yoga Centre Event Yoga Sutras Study with Edwin Bryant Bath Edwin received his PhD. In Indic languages and Cultures from Columbia University. He taught Iyengar Yoga Hinduism at Harvard University for three years and is presently the Professor of Hinduism at Rutgers University. He has received numerous awards and Centre fellowships, published six books and authored a number of articles on Vedic history, Yoga and the Krishna tradition. As a yoga practitioner for 35 years, a number of them spent in India studying with Yoga Sutras of Patanjali Study traditional teachers, Edwin strives to combine academic scholarship and rigour with sensitivity towards traditional knowledge systems. In addition to his academic work Edwin teaches workshops on the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita and Hindu Philosophy at with Professor Edwin Bryant Yoga Studios throughout the USA. This is his first such workshop in the UK. In 2009 his translation and commentary on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali was published (North Point Press) with a foreword by BKS Iyengar. This seminar will consist of a close reading of Patanjali’s original text. Attention will be paid to the pre-modern commentaries, thus exposing participants to the traditional understanding of classical yoga.
