This project includes the psychological aspect by referring to the upbringing as well as the societal development in Oslo, Norway. By examining these we analyzed and discussed which of the perspectives have had the most influential impact on Breiviks radicalization process. To approach the two perspectives we analyzed the psychological aspect by focusing on neglect as well as the life psychology of Breivik. Furthermore we analyzed the societal developments in Oslo politically as well as demographic differences. We made a comparison between the two perspectives to clarify which of the two have been the most influential on Breiviks radicalization process. According to the examination both of them have had an impact on the radicalization process. Norway has experienced an increase in immigration after the second World War which have resulted in an even greater multicultural development. This societal development has resulted in Breiviks disapproval of the society and extreme far right political opinions opposing the multiculturalism. Based on the SSBU reports the psychological examination has shown that neglect has led to Breivik having difficulties in maintaining relationships and accepting other perspectives than his own. Based on the analysis and discussion we have concluded that both perspectives have been crucial. However the psychological aspect has been the main factor in Breiviks radicalization process leading him to performing the terror attack on the 22th of July 2011.
