It is a position I am both humbled and honoured to have. My promise to each of you over this term of Council is to utilize our amazing team of staff and your talented new Councillors to manage the business of Muskoka Lakes, in a respectful and dedicated fashion, ensuring Muskoka is protected for our children, our grandchildren and our great grandchildren. We are pleased to produce this publication as we continue to enhance communications with our residents and visitors. This is the fourth consecutive year that the Township is distributing almost 4,500 Community Guides to our residents via a bulk mail drop. Additional copies are also available at the Township Office in Port Carling. The Community Guide is a hard copy supplement to more detailed information available on the Township website www.muskokalakes.ca. As you browse through this Guide, we are confident it will become a convenient reference tool to assist in providing information and answers to questions you might have about the many services our municipality has to offer. The Community Guide provides a wealth of information, such as names and contact information of municipal officials, emergency service telephone numbers, waste management details, and the locations of parks, trails, arenas, docks, boat ramps, churches, libraries and community centres. You will find listings for community service organizations, with their activities and events that take place during the year. There are a number of new items that we will be rolling out this year to improve municipal communication. Stay tuned for a new, more efficient Committee and Council schedule that engages the public even more but at the same time allows for greater efficiencies. An updated and improved Township website as well as the long-awaited web casting of Council meetings so you can see first hand everything Muskoka from anywhere in the world without having to be in our Council Chambers. I would like to congratulate Rachel Olive on winning the Muskoka Lakes Photo Contest. The selected photo is featured on the cover of the guide. The image celebrates the Township of Muskoka Lakes by highlighting the natural beauty of the area.
