Wright E-mail: [email protected] Connie Hanson, Poul Dausel Kirsten Juul Kane 2Linda NEWSLETTER Steffensen, 1582 Glen Lake Road, Hoffman Estates, IL 60169 NEWSLETTER 3 Highlights from July 4, 2012 A Royal Rebild Centennial When Rebild National Park Society celebrated its long- anticipated 100th anniversary on a warm and sunny July 4, 2012 in the Rebild Hills in Denmark, among the special and honored guests were Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II, Her Royal Highness Princess Benedikte, Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt, American actor Keith Carradine, the great-grandson of Rebild’s founder Max Henius, and countless outstanding entertainers. The Centennial Day began with music, sparkling, blue summer skies and the anticipation of royal visitors. Early arrivals to the Rebild Hills attended the Open Air Church Service led by Pastor Torben Poulsen. “Little Rebild” was open for the entire family and especially children to enjoy a taste of the Wild West. At this 12th Annual “Little Rebild”, it was possible to meet Cowboys and Indians, pan for gold and meet the Dalton Brothers, Lucky Luke and Jolly Jumper. Many children spent part of the day in the “Wild West”. Tent luncheon Next, guests moved to the gigantic white tent, the largest ever complete with wooden floors, ready to serve more than 1,000 guests at the Rebild Society’s Annual Tent Luncheon. Inside the tent, the program was enjoyed with music, entertainment and singing. Among the highlights of the afternoon were the recognition of new Honorary Members Carlo Christensen, Palle Thomsen, Tom Paulsen, Carl Wilhjelm and Helge Qvistorff. Generous donations were made to Rebild National Park Society by a number of Friends of Rebild.
