Indian Territory (between the Red and Canadian Rivers) and part of Arkansas, showing the "Quapaw Purchase of 1818." The area between the 98th and 100th meridian is claimed by the Wichitas. Compiled in 1917 from treaties and state maps. A blue ink on white paper, 21" x 33" map. Drawer 8614 2. Indian Territory: Arkansas border area in the vicinity of Ft. Smith. The land holdings (bordering on the railroad) of Dr. Payne, George and William Campbell, Mrs. Granklin, Mrs. Best, E. C. Boudinot, and McKibbon are shown. The western terminus of the Little Rock and Ft. Smith Railway is clearly indicated. A linen sheet hand drawn 15" x 28" map. Termed to be correct by G. W. Hughes, Chief Engineer (No date). Drawer 8626 3. Northeastern Indian Territory and Northwestern Arkansas: Arkansas Territory extends into Oklahoma to west of the Neosho River. In Arkansas the Old Cherokee holdings from the Treaty of July 8, 1817 are marked off between the Arkansas and White Rivers. In Oklahoma the Cherokees boundaries are outlined as of the Treaty of February 14, 1833. The Cherokee Outlet and Strip are indicated. The Osages, Nez Perce, Poncas, Pawnees, and Otoe- Missouris are located immediately west of the Cherokee Nation. In Kansas, the Neutral Lands are indicated from the Treaty of December 29, 1835. A linen sheet black and white 15" x 28" map. (No date). Drawer 8626 4. Indian Territory: A military map compiled under the direction of lst Lieut. E. H. Ruffner, Chief Engineer, Department of the Missouri, 1875. Indian Territory is quartered into the northwest, northeast, southeast and southwest quadrants. There are several copies of each quadrant, and three complete maps and several extra parts for the upper right and lower left quadrants. One series is probably a somewhat later period but all maps are quite similar. These are good terrain maps showing old trails, posts, and battles, and many old place names no longer used are evident. Camp Supply is located in the northwest quadrant and very little else. The northeast sector has several towns, missions, agencies and place names for creeks. The southeast is similar in content to the northeast, but contains an inset of the Camp Supply ground plan. The southwest quadrant shows Fort Sill and the route to Fort Elliott. A ground plan of Fort Sill is included in an inset. The copies are black or blue on white and each quadrant measures 21" x 27". Drawer 8614 5. Cherokee Strip; Showing the lands leased by the Cherokee Strip Livestock Association from the Cherokee Nation. This map was compiled from surveys of Ranges made for the Association in 1883 by S. T. Wood, Fred Eckert, T. W. Walton and C. H. Burgess, and is believed to contain the best information accessible concerning the location of Ranches, Camps, Range Lines etc., on this lease. Nine copies of this map; four are 31" x 53" blue on Map Collection #2: Indian Territory white and five are 20" x 35" colored maps. Drawer 8614 6. Cherokee Nation; Compiled and published by J. S. Duncan, showing the Districts, Court Houses and Post Offices. A 22" x 28" blue print copyrighted in 1895. Towns, mountains, waterways and individual holdings are also shown. Drawer 8614 7. Cherokee Nation; Showing the Territory originally assigned to the Cherokee Nation of Indians West of the Mississippi (also the boundaries of the Territory now occupied or owned by them). Compiled by C. C. Royce in 1884 for the Bureau of Ethnology, J. W. Powell, Director. A 21" x 30" black and white map with the Indian lands shown in colors. A numeric and chronological schedule of cessions is included. (Three copies, all fragile). This map is contained in the Fifth Annual Report as Plate IX. Drawer 8614 8. Choctaw Nation; Department of Interior map of the Commission to the Five Civilized Tribes (contained in the Eleventh Annual Report). A tri-colored 33" x 36" map showing the lands allotted to the Indians as well as towns, railroads, rivers, coal lands, townships and sections. (Badly torn). Drawer 8614 9. Choctaw Nation; Map of the Timber Lands (of the) Choctaw Nation. Prepared in the Office of the Commissioner to the Five Civilized Tribes. Published in Muskogee, 1913. A color- keyed 27" x 34" map of timber, agriculture, grazing and Indian allotted lands. Two copies. Drawer 8614 [Digitized 300dpi jpg, 10/2014] 10. Creek and Seminole Nations; A classification (Land) map prepared for the Bradley Real Estate Co. in Muskogee, Indian Territory. Missions, towns, courthouses, schools and railroads are shown. (Two copies, one is extremely damaged). No date. Drawer 8614 11. Osage Indian Reservation; Interior Department map compiled and drawn by D. E. Coon, 1911. A 30" x 40" black and white map showing towns, railroads, creeks, townships and sections. Also telephone and pipelines are shown. The map has been hand colored to reveal the Foster Leases (red) and leases approved later (blue). Torn and very brittle. Drawer 8614 12. Chickasaw Nation; Department of the Interior, Commission to the Five Civilized Tribes map of coal and asphalt segregation. A large two piece map 56" x 64", 1903. Choctaw Nation: Department of the Interior, Commission to the Five Civilized Tribes map of Coal and Asphalt Segregation. A large two piece map 56" x 64", (lower half missing) 1903. Townships, sections, railroads, towns and creeks are shown on this black and white map. Some hand colored portions show geological stratification. Taken from the 21st Annual Report and Bulletin 260 U.S.G.S. by E. DeGolyer. Drawer 8614 14. Creek Nation: A U.S.G.S. topographical map of the Okmulgee and Nuyaka Quadrangles, Map Collection #2: Indian Territory 1913. A 29" x 35" map showing roads, towns, railroads, sections and townships, as well as terrain and topography. Cloth backed but showing wear. Drawer 8614 15. Indian Territory: General Land Office map compiled from official records by H. King, 1899. A two tones 20" x 22" map. A very good map of eastern Oklahoma showing towns, railroads, creeks, townships, and sections. Many old towns no longer existing or existing now under different names are present. Three copies, two are in excellent condition. The third copy is faded and is cloth backed. Drawer 8614 16. Indian Territory: U.S.G.S. map directed by C. S. Fitch, 1895-1899. A two-toned 31" x 33" map containing railroads, towns, rivers and townships as well as topographical information. Three copies, one is cloth-backed in good condition and another is badly torn. The third copy is a positive reproduction and is beginning to tear. Drawer 8614 17. Indian Territory: 1891 General Land Office map compiled from official records by A. F. Dinsmore. Railroads, trails, towns, mountains, rivers and Indian nations are shown. The Chickasaw Nation shows townships also. Schools, missions and forts are scattered throughout. Has several prominent tears. Drawer 8614 18. Indian Territory. A 16" x 17" black and white and hand colored map titled "A Sectional Map of the Kiowa, Comanche, and Apache Reservations To Be Opened for Settlement...Summer of 1901." The map shows river systems and mountains and also CRI&P railways, missions, towns, military forts and reservations. Distributed by the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad, Chicago. 1901. Drawer 8626 19. Indian and Oklahoma Territories: 1890 map showing the boundary designation between the two territories. The Indian Nations and Reservations are the same as in the preceding map. This map shows the routes of thirteen railroads and gives the date each was authorized by Congress. Total area in square miles is given for each Reservation and Indian Nation. Same size and color as the previous map. This map is taped to cardboard and has a photo negative with it. (A photograph copy is available, see 2-38). Drawer 8614 20. Indian Territory: 1887 General Land Office map from the Department of the Interior. A negative 24" x 32" map showing military and Indian Reservations. The western half of the state shows township surveying and considerable drainage. Several railroads cross the territory on a generally north-south line. (Actually, this is four separate maps taped together.) Drawer 8614 21. Indian Territory: General Land Office map compiled from official records by G. P. Strum, in 1885. A colored 24" x 32" map showing the Indian Nations and Reservations. Railroads, trails, towns, agencies, rivers and townships are shown as well as concessions and treaties. Heavily taped. Drawer 8614 22. Indian Territory: The Kansas State Journal Map of Oklahoma (Indian Territory) Compiled Map Collection #2: Indian Territory from General Land Office records by S. N. Wood, editor of the Kansas State Journal, 1885. Total acreage and population given for the Indian Nations and Reservations. Railroads, towns, forts, townships, trails and schools are shown. Two copies of this 22" x 32" map; one master and one blue print. Drawer 8614 23. Indian Territory: General Land Office map compiled from official records by C. Roeser, 1879. A colored 24" x 32" map showing the location of Indian tribes and reservations. A single railroad, the St. Louis & San Francisco crosses the eastern portion of the state from Vinita in the Cherokee Nation to Colbert's Station, opposite Denison, Texas, in the Chickasaw Nation. Several schools, agencies, towns and forts are shown. More than half of the western portion of the territory shows survey lines. Extremely poor condition for the colored copy. A second two-toned copy is cloth backed and in excellent shape.
