Once again, I would like to convey our gratitude to all participating Laureates and the scientific chairpersons. Following the Lindau Meetings in 2000 and 2005, this year’s meeting was once more dedicated to an inter- disciplinary exchange. This kind of dialogue helps us to cope with the complex challenges of our time and to find answers to the most pressing issues in science and research. The Laureates, as well as the 675 young researchers have made a conscious effort, to provide and to seek inspiration beyond the boundaries of their own fields of specialisation. Promoting this kind of exchange between generations of scientists as well as between disciplines is an impor- tant aspect of Lindau’s ‘Mission Education’.
