Hatchery administration procured necessary equipment, and attended meetings and training opportunities relative to fisheries production and management activities. Production ponds were maintained by disking and rotovating within hatchery pond liner, excess sediments were removed from pond liner as necessary, kettles and harvest basins were cleaned and screens were repaired. All operating fish hatcheries were disease tested and certified by USFWS Dexter Tech Center. A total of 29 .1 + million fish were stocked, and an additional 12.9+ million fish were produced and traded to other states during the project period. Purpose: This purpose of this grant is for the enhancement and maintenance of 14.6 million angler-days of angling opportunity across Oklahoma through the production and stocking of fish. Objective 1: Stock 11,000,000 fish annually for two years into Oklahoma public waters, by December 31, 2019. Accomplishments 2018- 2019: • Ponds were used to produce largemouth bass, sunfish spp., walleye, saugeye, striped bass, hybrid striped bass, and channel catfish for public water stockings (see chart below). • Ponds were also used to hold captive brood fish and to produce forage (koi, fathead minnows, and goldfish) to feed to listed stocks. • Florida largemouth bass from the Skiatook Lake Fish Nursery Pond were released into Skiatook Lake. • All operating fish hatcheries were disease tested and certified by USFWS Dexter Tech Center. • Rainbow trout and brown trout were obtained from USFWS hatcheries in Arkansas and transported to ODWC hatcheries for distribution into designated trout areas. • The following species and numbers of fish were stocked into public waters: SPECIES NUMBER Bluegill 100 Guthrie - Mineral Wells Highland Park, Guthrie Brown trout 37,167 Broken Bow Illinois River-Lower Mountain Fork Certified Florida largemouth bass 2,426,276 Arbuckle Eucha Lake Raymond Gary Ardmore City Eufaula Sardis Bixhoma Ft. Channel catfish 365 lb. Goldfish 1,039 lb. Hybrid sunfish 1,515 lb. Koi 9,353 lb. Minnows 1,013 lb. Crawfish 985 lb. FORAGE TOTAL 17,400 lb. • ODWC provided 348.3 pounds of Channel catfish spawns to the Tishomingo National Fish Hatchery. • ODWC provided fry walleye, striped bass hybrids, rainbow trout, and channel catfish to the Oklahoma City H.B. Parsons Fish Hatchery in a cooperative program to provide fish for city water supply reservoirs and urban fishing ponds that are part of the Close-to-Home Fishing Program. Objective 2: Operate and maintain four (4) fish hatchery facilities by December 31, 2019. Accomplishments 2018 - 2019: • ODWC operated the Byron State Fish Hatchery (Alfalfa County), Durant State Fish Hatchery (Bryan County), Holdenville State Fish Hatchery (Hughes County) and James A. Manning State Fish Hatchery (Comanche County). • All buildings, storage facilities and shop buildings were routinely cleaned and maintained. All facility grounds were mowed and trimmed during the year. Fence lines were maintained and upgraded as needed. Hatchery roads and parking areas were maintained. Annual inspections of all hatchery residences were conducted by Hatchery Supervisor. Minor repairs and maintenance were performed as needed. Holdenville SFH upgraded the fish house with plumbing and specialized fish kettle paint. Holdenville SFH remodeled the old storage building with new siding and refurbished the interior. Holdenville SFH built a covered deck on residence to protect from weather damage. Byron SFH replaced four roofs on hatchery residences. Byron SFH replaced the lighting in fish house for better energy conservation. The fish house located at Durant hatchery had insulation installed, a new overhead door replaced, and had all plumbing replaced. Durant SFH replaced roof and on Assistant Managers residence and replaced with metal roofing. Durant SFH also replaced floor covering in the manager's residence. • Normal maintenance and repairs to hatchery equipment were accomplished at all facilities as needed including vehicles, tractors and fish hauling equipment, pumps, motors, compressors and other equipment. An a-frame was built and installed in the equipment shop building at Holdenville hatchery to lift and hoist equipment for repairs. Fish hauling tanks were purchased. Approved herbicides were applied according to label directions to control algae and noxious weed growth as needed.
