It was the first meeting between the two schools. The Bears (1-4, 0-1 MEAC) led 7-0 early in the contest be- fore ODU answered with a 6-0 run to cut the Bears’ lead to one. Morgan State’s largest lead of the game was in the first half when they pushed the lead to 22-14 with the 9:10 mark of the first half, but the Monarchs countered with an 11-0 run to grab hold of its first lead of the night, 25-22. Morgan State’s Cedrick Barrow knocked down two free throws to help pull the Bears to within two, 28-26, with just under five minutes left to go in the half, but once again ODU came back with a run of its own as they went on an 8-3 run to head into intermission up 34-31.At the start of the second half, Ron Timus converted a layup to cut ODU’s lead to one, 34-33. From that point on the Monarchs pulled away. ODU (2-3) jumped out to a 44-35 lead by the 16:45 mark of the half and built a 23-point lead, 62-39, with just over 10 minutes remaining in the game. The Bears clawed their way back to cut the Monarch lead to just 13 points, 69-56, with 3:52 left in the game, but ODU once again pulled out to a 21-point, 77-56, lead with just over two minutes remaining in the half to put the game out of reach. Although the Morgan State finished with their best effort of the season from the free throw line by converting 12-of-16 (75%), the ODU held the Bears to their lowest point total of the season (62). For the game, Morgan State shot 39.3% (24 of 61), while the Monarchs shot 37.1 % from the field (26 of 70). ODU held a narrow 43-42 rebounding margin and committed only 10 turnovers to the Bears' 20. 2003-04 Morgan State University Men’s Basketball - 3 2003-04 Morgan State University Men’s Basketball BEARS vs. COPPIN STATE - - (December 10, 2003, Baltimore, MD) 2003-04 Team Cumulatives Aaron Andrews scored a team-high 15 points to lead the way as Morgan State fell short to Coppin State in overtime, 68-66, in its first taste of Mid- MSU UM Eastern Athletic Conference action.
