We meet to give and receive Peer Support in the face of or surviving mental distress. Phone or Text 027 282 0615 for more details. Rubbish and Recycling Services under Alert Level 2- Waitaki Due to the move into Alert Level 2, most rubbish and recycling services will be up and running. However, because going to Level 2 involves some juggling and rules must still be met, please be patient with staff, and follow any signage or instructions at the following sites. The Waitaki Resource Recovery Park (including the Get Sorted shop) will reo- pen. Due to recycling market challenges, paper can’t be accepted for recycling at this time - but cardboard and all other recyclables are good to go. Waste Management’s Oamaru transfer station will continue to operate, with measures in place to meet Level 2 rules. They’ll confirm the details through their website and other channels. Council’s rural recovery parks (transfer stations) and Palmerston Landfill will return to normal hours at Alert Level 2 as follows (note Winter opening days have now commenced): o Hampden and Omarama - Wednesdays and Sundays, 9am-12pm o Kurow and Otematata - Wednesdays and Sundays, 1pm-4pm Payment at these sites will be by Eftpos only (no cash) and contactless payment is preferred. The rural recovery parks will now also accept recyclables (except paper - cardboard is fine). Recycling bins in Herbert, Enfield and Papakaio will be put back over the coming week, so please allow a few days before you take your recycling to these sites. As mentioned above, paper can’t be recycled at this time, but cardboard is fine. Please be considerate and kind to staff at our sites during this time, they will no doubt be feeling overwhelmed with the volume of rubbish and recycling after so long a break. Carron Cossens: From my side of the counter PART FOUR All work at that time was done by volunteers. I still remember the Museum Committee turning the space where the blue desk sits into a concrete floor. And the painting done under the brush stroke guidance of Gaynor Lines. So many working bees. And the gift of the pink/mauve carpet. As part of these working bees someone advocated to get rid of the donation tiger as it was old and "lowered the look" of the space. I still remember this as one of the times my blood boiled and I voiced the fact. Loudly. Oops. Many of you will know the Tiger is one of the most valuable pieces in the museum historically and speaks to the number eight wire skills of the Waitaki Valley residents. ...continued next issue River-T Vine News HARVEST HAS FINISHED …. We harvested our Riesling last week. A big effort and a huge relief to have another season behind us. It will be remembered as the Covid vintage. So what next…..Well the nets that covered the vineyard come off. All the snips, buckets and gloves get sorted, washed and put away till next years harvest. The rocks that help hold the nets down get removed, the bottom wire on the posts at ground level that was helping to also hold the nets gets lifted a notch so it doesn’t catch on the mower and so it goes… Its cleanup time, getting ready for….. PRUNING. The winter job! Thank you to all of you who supported us during lockdown 4 by purchasing our wine either through website sales or from the local Four Square. Going forward in this uncertain world we have decided we will NOT open the Cellar door in June. We will make a decision about July in the coming weeks.
