Senior Presentation Graduation Requirements ► 4 years of English ► 4 years of Math ► 3 years of Science ► 3 years of History ► 3 years of Physical Education ► Passed MCAS subject areas (ELA & Math) Biology waived for 2021 ► 22 total credits ► Not a graduation requirement – 2 years of same World Language for four-year college acceptance Post Graduation Planning Options ► 4 year college/university (public or private) – Bachelor’s Degree ► 2 year college (Community College) - Associate’s Degree or transfer to 4 year ► Technical/Trade School (programs range from 6-18 months) ► New England Institute of Technology, Porter and Chester, Lincoln Tech, Toni and Guy, Rob Roy, Cosmix Beauty School ► Military- Call your local recruiters to gather information and set up meeting times with your parents ► Employment (including Apprenticeship program opportunities) College Search ► Naviance, Collegeboard and MASS CIS ► MEFA Pathway and Peterson’s Website ► College Websites- Virtual tours, Virtual Information Sessions, Virtual Open Houses, Virtual Student Discussions, In person Tours ► Attend Virtual College Fairs (NEACAC) – https://www.nacacfairs.org/virtual ► Oct 12, Oct 18 or Nov 8 ► SHRHS visits from admission counselors are now virtual. Scholarships tend to roll in beginning in January through March. NCAA Clearinghouse ► If you plan on playing a sport in college (Division 1, 2 or 3) ► Create an account/sign up on www.eligibilitycenter.org ► Send SAT scores officially to NCAA clearinghouse (like you do for colleges) ► Tell your guidance counselor you are signed up/request transcript be sent College Decision Day Schools/Dates Receive an instant admission decision on the day you have your virtual meeting with the college admission counselor ► Becker College - October 14 (9-11am) (12 student maximum) - materials due by September 30 ► Nichols College - October 21 (10am-1pm) (no maximum) - materials due by October 7 ► QVCC - November 18 (9-11am) (10 student max) - materials due by November 4 (October 7 10-11am mandatory virtual presentation for all applicants) ► Quinsigamond C.C. - December 2 (9am-2pm) (15 student maximum) - materials due by November 17 ► Worcester State University - December 9 (9-11am) (12 student max, 3.0 GPA or above only) - materials due by November 24 ► Contact Mr. Gendron ([email protected]) to register Apprenticeship Program ► Choose a trade from many different areas ► Basic requirements consist of being 17 or 18, having your high school diploma, a driver’s license, an updated physical/good overall health ► If accepted, you begin working immediately after high school where you will be paid while learning the skills required ► Programs are 3-5 years while you are building expertise in your career ► The opportunity to move up the ladder is great due to having more jobs open than current workers due to retirees ► See your Guidance Counselor for more information To Do List ► Google Classroom-Classwork ► Diploma Name ► Transcript Information Sheet ► Rec Letter Sheet ► Sign up for 1 on 1 Senior Meeting Date (Signup Genius invitation in your email) and select a slot ► WE WILL BE REVIEWING TRANSCRIPTS, GRADUATION ELIGIBILITY and REQUIREMENTS, GPA/CLASS RANK AND POST GRAD PLANS ► Naviance: https://student.naviance.com/shepherdhrhs if you have trouble logging in, tell your counselor during Senior Meetings NAVIANCE https://student.naviance.com/shepherdhrhs ► What we will be going over… ► Username should be your school email (password reset w/email) – tell guidance if you can’t get in ► Virtual College Visits ► Advanced College Search and Scattergrams ► Adding colleges to your account and matching common app – should be done by end of September at latest ► Letters of recommendation ► Scholarships (found in Naviance, also on school site) ► Update with Admission Decisions and Final Decision.
