They were domestic cup winners in 1976, 1981, 1986 and 1987 and made an appearance in the 1987 final of the European Cup Winners' Cup, falling 0–1 to Ajax after a Marco van Basten goal. The club was bankrupted in 2004, results annulled and the club dissolved, the club was resurrected again yet despite an enthusiastic backing by supporters the club has been blighted by politically motivated problems behind the scenes. Currently the team are sixth in the Regionalliga Nordost one of five leagues at the fourth tier nationally. O Odense Boldklub. The Harlequins nearly scored within the first thirty seconds Page coming out a long way to clear the ball to see it returned towards goal by Palmer but not really a threat to the goal. Two minutes later O’Keefe was stopped winning a free kick, but Slade wasted the opportunity. In the tenth minute Renyard and Palmer combined well on the right flank but the final ball failed to create the breakthrough. Bemerton were in control but couldn’t make this count Llewellyn coming close, but was pulled back for being offside, and Page was forced to clear under pressure from Slade. However on 16 minutes they took the lead when JONES made the most of the situation by beating the offside trap with the hosts pushing up. This seemed to spur on the home side, Purkiss came close on 20 minutes and just after the half hour did get back into the game when RITCHIE struck the target with the help of a slight deflection from around 20 yards out. The hosts managed to restrict Bemerton to a couple of more chances in the first half particularly on 38 minutes when Mankin had a fierce long range shot. This sandwiched two good efforts though for Lymington- with Purkiss and Traies both being denied by Crowfoot. However on 41, Lymington took the lead RITCHIE was blocked 20 yards from goal. He took the free kick himself and a cracking left foot shot flew into the net. In an action packed first half, Llewellyn rounded off the action with a free header that zipped over the bar. HT 2-1 However just five minutes into the second period, Bemerton got their equaliser, COX converting from close range after Page had failed to clear the ball properly, and just three minutes later regained their lead after Cox’s free kick was converted from close range by SLADE. However Lymington still had enough in their tank to continue to cause their guests some problems and Ritchie again was involved with a low free kick into the box that was dived on by Crowfoot at the second attempt. The game continued to switch from end to end, but on 71 minutes there seemed to be an inspired substitution by the Harlequins when Cox was replaced by HUGHES. With his first touch the sub brought the ball under control and with his second deposited a half volley into the back of the net with Page well beaten. With the bit between their teeth Bemerton looked to grab a further goal with O’Keefe and Palmer creating chances for Jones to deliver good crosses into the danger area but the hosts defence held firm, but the final action of the game went Lymington’s way and saw Clark’s shot flash past the post with under four minutes remaining.
