The Johan Skytte Prize in Political Science The Skytte Foundation Dear Colleague On behalf of the Skytte Foundation, I have the honour to invite you to nominate a scholar for the the award of: Johan Skytte Prize in Political Science for 2016 The tradition of Johan Skytte dates back to 1622 when his donation to Uppsala University founded a chair in Political Science and Eloquence which is now considered to be one of the oldest, still-surviving professorships within the discipline. The donation is still used to fund The Johan Skytte Prize which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2014 and has grown to be one of the most prestigious awards within the discipline. Many leading political scientists have been awarded the Prize over the years; including Robert Dahl, Elinor Ostrom, Theda Skocpol, Ronald Inglehart and Pippa Norris, Carole Pateman, David Collier and, most recently, Francis Fukuyama. The Prize is awarded by the Skytte Foundation for the most valuable contribution to Political Science and includes a financial award of 50 000 EUR. Nominations are considered by the Prize Committee consisting of myself, Li Bennich-Björkman (Uppsala University), Jörgen Hermansson (Uppsala University), Dirk Berg-Schlosser (University of Marburg) Øyvind Østerud (Oslo University) and Lise Rakner (University of Bergen).
