Shi Shil Guuzhu! Hello everyone, My name is Talia Randolph I am your current Miss Mescalero Apache XXXVII here is an update on things I have been doing and places I have been for the month of May. I ended the busy month of April by attending the 33rd Annual Gathering of Nations in Albuquerque, New Mex- ico which I enjoyed very much. My adventurous week- end began with an evening at the Miss Indian World tra- ditional talent presentations. It was wonderful to see so many young, talented individuals. Each contestant had their own unique performance that told a little bit about who they are and where they come from. The Gathering of Nations is the biggest gathering of indigenous people that come together to sing, dance and/or compete. I have never seen so many royalty in one place at one time, I met ladies from all across the United States and Can- ada. Which is why I participated in the very first largest group photo of tribal royalty with 2015-2016 Miss Indian World Cheyenne Brady. This took place at Stage 49 and we were told to do our best "princess wave". I have been to the gatherings many times before but this time was different I wasn't just another spec- tator, I was able to witness everything first hand and on the arena floor with some of the worlds best dancers. I took full advantage of the opportunity and made sure I attended ever Grand Entry because it felt like a once in a lifetime chance. Definitely an experience I will never forget. On May 6, 2016 Myranda Waldo who is Myranda in the morning on Mix 96.7 invited me to the radio station for an interview. The main purpose of this was to tell how my experience has been so far to promote the title of Miss Mescalero and recruit Apache Scout Volume 1.16, Issue 06 Page 7 potential candidates for the upcoming pageant.
