Students who decide to study in Italy often find themselves thrown into a system and a culture very different from those of their own countries; they have to also deal with unfamiliar and sometimes com- plex bureaucratic procedures. It was for this reason that the Welcome Desk of the International Stu- dents Office was created, a University service for students, doctoral stu- dents and interns who come to Milan for the first time. The service is also dedicated to those who already live in the city and need to verify the validity of academic qualifications obtained abroad in order to enrol in one of our courses. The Desk is the reference point for all the initial necessities of your new adventure in Milan and at the university. This short guide will outline the various steps you need to take in order to: • obtain the documents necessary for living in Italy • enrol in a course • take an Italian language course • take advantage of the services and opportunities offered by the University • live and get around in the city of Milan.
