This Station Access Guide has been developed to help customers with a wide variety of travelling requirements to enjoy a stress free journey. Accessing Citytrain stations Queensland Rail currently has a number of stations that are classed as ‘independently accessible’, which means customers can independently enter a station, access a platform and travel between platforms via an accessible ramp, pathway or lift, without having to use stairs. At our ‘assisted access’ stations, customers may require some assistance. For instance, these stations may have a steep ramp or a rail crossing to negotiate. Customers using mobility aids or who have difficulties with walking may therefore want to be accompanied by a travelling companion when accessing these stations. Finally, some stations may only offer access via stairs. The information contained in this Station Access Guide is effective February 2019. Please visit queenslandrail.com.au/easyaccess for the most up-to-date information. 1 Using the ramp to board a train If you require use of the ramp to board a train, please wait at the assisted boarding point prior to the arrival of the train and let staff know that you require use of the ramp. Station ticket counters that have hearing loops installed display the international symbol for deafness. To use the system, please indicate that you require the hearing loop and staff will activate it. The hearing loop will output the Queensland Rail station officer’s voice Accessible customer information so that a customer’s hearing aid can pick up the signal within approximately 60 centimetres of the counter.
