Chakwal 18th May 2021 WORLD MUSEUM DAY, TAXILA MUSEUM & HARRAPPA TAXILA AND HARRAPA Legendary historical monuments like Lahore Fort, Shalimar Gardens and Hiran Minar have expressed their cultural heritage for decades and take us back to the roots. Every building stone, artifacts, ancient tree, or even the grain of sand is woven with human stories. Punjab Tourism Department has planned photographic Competition at Shalamar Gardens, World Heritage Site. The prime objective for this event is the promotion of the site and to attract the attention of creative people to UNESCO World Heritage to demonstrate the diversity and beauty of site through lens. The photographers will make a photo documentary, photo collage, photo story, photo journal about the monument. The winners shall be awarded certificates and prizes. The city of Lahore, Pakistan, was an extremely important city for the Mughal Empire. One great place for any history buff to visit is the Tomb of Jahangir. The Jahangir Tomb is one of the best-preserved mausoleums from the Mughal Empire in the world. The contest aims to introduce images of Jahangir’s Tomb to the community and to raise public awareness of maintaining and preserving the cultural and heritage of the Punjab. The winners shall be awarded certificates and prizes. Venue: Jahangir’s Tomb Lahore Top tourism destinations, particularly in developing countries, including wilderness areas, mountains, lakes, and cultural and heritage sites, most of which are generally rural. Thus, tourism is already an important feature of the rural economy in these specific sites. Tourism helps rural communities hold onto their unique natural and cultural heritage and safeguarding lost traditions or flavours. World Tourism Day 2020 also highlights the important role tourism plays in preserving and promoting cultural and heritage all around the world. Punjab Tourism Department has decided to celebrate this event at Shalamar Gardens, UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its rich Islamic history and heritage also form layers of fascinating experiences just waiting to be discovered. Punjab’s soil is rich in religious tourism as it is the custodian of holy sites & ancient Islamic heritage and can attract immense tourist from home and abroad. For their convivence TDCP has developed Shrines Tours. Initially 13 Shrines have been identified for guided tours. The inaugural ceremony of Islamic Tours shall be held at Sightseeing Bus Terminal Lahore on 04th October 2020. Punjab first Tourism Policy was approved by Cabinet. The tourism policy of Punjab aims at articulating Government of Punjab’s commitment and setting the future direction of tourism sector in the province to make it an effective link for social betterment of the marginalized communities. The Government believes that by putting this policy in place, complemented by social mobilization, an investor-friendly business. environment, and an enhanced institutional capacity, the unexploited potential of the tourism sector can be unlocked and tapped to contribute to economic growth. The Department has planned launching of Tourism Policy on 16th Oct, 2020 at Lahore. Pakistan currently has largest youth population of its history. Its high time to reshape our economies for 64percent of the youth bulge. While tourism can be an effective way to spur economic growth in Pakistan Because the youth have the power to transform a country’s future. Punjab Tourism took new initiative for youth empowerment. The Bahawalpur Museum contains artefacts from the Indus Valley Civilization, as well as ancient Buddhist sites such as the Pattan Minara. “This city is known as the city of palaces, the city of nawabs, and the city of lovers. Noor Mahal, Darbaar Mahal, Sadiqgarh Palace, and many more palaces were built by its various nawabs. The most famous among these is Noor Mahal. Chief Minister Punjab desired that all tourism products may be distributed with out any discrimination. Sightseeing Double Decker Bahawalpur was the dream of Bahawalpur people so it will be launched in Oct 2020. Catch glimpses of the relics of the great thinker Javed Manzil is one of at least four known places where Allama Iqbal had lived on his return from Britain and Germany after securing higher education as well as Ph.D. As a matter of fact, this was the place where Allama Iqbal had breathed his last on April 21, 1938. Many people visit the Javed Manzil to have glimpses of the relics of the great thinker. The objective of the event is to spread awareness about the Javed Manzil and teachings of Dr. Allama Iqbal so that people particularly youth can learn, explore, research and catch glimpses of the relics of the great thinker. This is a three day festivity starting from 16th Nov every year. The objective of the rally is to promote Thal desert of Southern Punjab. The event showcase cultural performances of local artists, exhibition of local crafts, food, Horse and camel dances and tent pegging competition Conference on Management and improvement of Buddhist Sites and museum at Taxila will be arranged to build the capacity of staff and professionals. The contest aims to introduce images of Gandhara Heritage sites to the community and to raise public awareness of maintaining and preserving the Gandhara cultural heritage of the Punjab. The participants shall be awarded certificates. Seminar on Management and improvement of Indus Valley Civilization/ Harappan Archaeological Remains and museum at Harappa will be arranged for capacity building Department official and professionals. The contest aims to introduce images of Gandhara Heritage sites to the community and to raise public awareness of maintaining and preserving the Gandhara cultural heritage of the Punjab. The participants shall be awarded certificates. This is a three day festivity. The event shall be held at Historical Hiran Minar in Sheikhupura. This monument is unique in its design, setting and architecture. The 1st edition of Lahore Interprovincial Conference on Travel and Tourism will take place in Lahore. The event is aimed at all Pakistan based tour and travel business professionals to participate. They can meet tourism stakeholders face to face over the course of 2 days. The Conference will provide a B2B platform to present their latest products and services, learn the latest travel industry trends and establish important business contacts. We will also invite all provincial and territories heads of tourism including Ministers, Secretaries and Managing Directors to share policies and sign MoUs for joint code of conduct for tourism sector as well as the tourist facilitation mechanism. The six gate city of Multan is a popular tourist destination in Punjab. The city’s vast history of five thousand years is reflected through its standing tombs, Qila's, and bazaars. Be it food, culture or heritage, Multan has it all. The ancient city of saints, Multan is a wonder in itself. The city has continuously been inhabited for around 5,000 years and 2021 finds mentions in old Hindu mythology as well as in travelogues of Greek, Arab writers and explorers. Located along the ancient trade route between Central Asia and the subcontinent, Multan is known to be the home of Sufi saints and their shrines which continue to attract devotees and visitors alike. A Seminar has been planned in Multan to highlight city potential of tourism. Pakistan’s biggest motor sports event covering 500 kilometres – will take place in the majestic desert of Cholistan from February 12 to 14, 2020.Organized by the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP), the Cholistan Jeep Rally 2020 will cover three districts of Punjab including Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalnagar and Bahawalpur. More than 100 racers from all over Pakistan will challenge the sand of the Cholistan in different Categories.
