It was stressed that “Brussels” need decentralize their approach in dealing with the challenges and to demonstrate that they systematically work for the benefit of the European citizens. Possible scenarios for the evolution of the EU were discussed as well. www.todiktio.eu 14 Working Breakfast Series: Pedro Sanchez On March 6th 2017, the guest was Dr. Pedro Sanchez, former Secretary General of the Spanish www.todiktio.eu Socialist Party (PSOE). The topic of the discussion was relevant to the developmental prospects of the European South, the modern challenges for the European social democracy and the need for consensus. Mr. Sanchez referred to the low reliability and the identity crisis of social democracy as the major problem rather than the lack of ideas! With regard to Greece, it was stated that the country must make and take the decisions for improving its economy and define its developmental priorities. On the critical issue of both Greek and German surpluses, it was argued that the Greek 3,5% long-term target is an exaggeration whereas the enormous German trade surplus reflects the economic growth and as a result the trend shall remain unchanged for as long as the economy’s performance is positive. www.todiktio.eu 16 Lab Events: Reform … for better health!
