THE CENTRAL VALLEY'S NEWS LEADER ABC-30 ACTION NEWS is the number one rated news operation in Central California. Action News has more reporters, live coverage capability, and journalistic experience than any other television station in Central California. Action News covers events across six counties, and fulfills its responsibility by compiling a long and honorable record ofnews coverage that informs Central Valley viewers daily. WEATHER: ABC-30 is a Tier-l Weather Station, providing National Weather Service severe weather warnings instantaneously. Action News provides live radar through Storm Warn 30, and six live mounted cameras (Fresno-2, Visalia, Merced, Meadow Lakes, and Sierra Summit). In addition to broadcasting severe weather watches and warnings, and the air quality index, Action News provides constant foggy day school delay schedules on Action News and www.abc30.com. In addition, ABC-30 airs Accuweather Now on its third digital channel. The 24-hour weather channel provides constant local and national weather data and information. TRAFFIC: Action News partners with the California Highway Patrol for live traffic reports daily during AM Live from 5am-7am, and during Good Morning America from 7am-9am. CHP officers are also available for live reports at any time during traffic events. The CalTrans live camera network provides Action News viewers with a live look at road conditions. The ABC-30 Live Traffic Tracker is an on-air computerized mapping feature that shows live traffic conditions. BREAKING NEWS: When Breaking News happens, Action News is able to alert viewers immediately with on-air cut-ins or lower-screen crawls, and online with postings and email alerts from abc30.com. Emma L. Bowen Foundation Internship Program - Summer of2008 The Foundation prepares minority youth for careers in the media industry. In most cases, Emma L. Bowen interns join companies following their junior year ofhigh school and then return every summer and on other school breaks, until they graduate from college. Students are able to learn all aspects of the television business, by moving through the various departments during the course of the internship. Ideally, by the end of the five-year program and upon graduation, the intern is qualified for full-time employment within the company. The Foundation requires students to maintain a 3.0 grade point average. They earn an hourly salary and matching funds for college expenses. ABC Owned TV Station Group Television Sales Trainee Program This ABC Owned TV Station Group sales trainee program offers a unique on-the-job training opportunity for women and minorities interested in a sales career in the television industry. ABC OTVS is comprised of ten television stations and a National Sales team. This opportunity is offered in select markets within ABC OTVS. The position consists of training for one year in key areas of television sales and the sales processes. If the trainee is successful, they will have the oppOliunity to apply for an account executive position at one ofour ten television stations.
