Issue No. 25 January 2014 Book Review Rebekah H. and Kelsey M. The book we read was The Wide-Awake Princess, by E.D. Baker. In the story Gwendolyn, the eldest and most beautiful princess in Treecrest, has a curse come upon her on her sixteenth birthday. The curse sends her and the whole kingdom to sleep for a hundred years. Only her little sister, Annabell, is left awake because of her power that no magic affects her. Annie is left with figuring out how to save her sister with help of the new knight, Liam. Annie needs to find Gwen’s true love to awaken her, but she is not sure who it is. Is it Prince Digby? Is it Prince Clarence? Is it Prince Andreas? Or is it the enchanted Prince Beldegard? Find out when you read The Wide-Awake Princess. We both loved this book because Princess Annie is an independent girl who follows her dreams and never gives up! Hidden History By: Cailin M. Though you may not know it, facts about history can be found in modern day music. Take the song, Viva La Vida, by “Coldplay” for instance. The plot of the song is about ancient history and how a kingdom fell under attack and was overthrown. The king is reflecting on the war. Another song that reflects on history is, Sunday Bloody Sunday, by “U2” which is about the Irish Bloody Sunday, not to be confused with the Russian Bloody Sunday. Here is a game that you can play by yourself. Turn on a radio station for 15 minutes or longer. Set up a tally count on a piece of paper. Then, every time you hear a historical reference made in a song, add a tally mark. What is your highest score? Have fun “rocking out!” IHeartRadio: the New Music Site By: Priscilla N.
