MISSOULA COUPLE HONORED WITH THE HAL AND SHAREE FRASER AWARD

Renowned artist Monte Dolack and his wife, M ary Beth Percival, are a western Montana staple. The two have contributed greatly to the artistic community of Mis soula and to the state as a whole. The Hal and Sharee Fraser Missoula Community Service Award, presented to Monte and Mary Beth at today’s game, recognizes support of and service to The Uni versity of Montana and its athletic programs, as well as service to hometown com munities, in this case, Missoula. It is presented by UM and coordinated by the Office of Alumni Relations, Grizzly Athletics and the Grizzly Scholarship Association. Dolack graduated from UM in 1974 with a bachelors degree in fine art. Percival also graduated from UM with a bachelor’s degree in fine art. She grew up in Mon tana’s Big Hole and Boulder valleys, where her father worked as a ranger for the U.S. Forest Service. A Great Falls native, Dolack has created numerous pieces of artwork that have been donated to various charities and organizations, including Defenders of Con servation, Great Falls High School and the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center near Great Falls. In addition to creating more than 200 artwork and posters for organizations, Dolack and Percival also operate a studio located in the heart of downtown Missoula. At the turn of the century, the Missoulian named Dolack one of the most influ Monte DolacH and Mary Beth Percival ential Montanans of the 21st century. Dolack and Percival both recently received the distinguished Fine Arts Alumni award from UM. In addition to creating beautiful art here at home, the husband and wife have traveled extensively through the United States, Europe, Mexico, New Zealand and Japan, visiting important cultural sites and museums to inspire paintings of their travels.
