Dear Parents, Carers and Families, As the academic year comes to a close, the staff and I have been reflecting on some of the fantastic highlights of this term. The children

have accessed a range of trips and visits, successfully represented the school in a host of sporting events and have sat their national tests. They have of course, been given excellent learning opportunities within the

classroom every day, mainly because the teachers provide such a

personalised approach to learning and by always going over and above. Everyone who visits Goathland is of the same opinion - Goathland Primary school is such a special place. The strong family ethos, rooted in

peer support, collaboration and respect provide the children with such great foundations. If you could bottle it and sell it - we would make a fortune…

We wish you all a great summer and thank you for all of your support and commitment to the school over the course of the year. Very best wishes,

Helen Tillson

and all of those who have received awards.

Base 2’s Trip to Folk Museum

On Monday Base 2 spent the day at Ryedale Folk Museum as a final part of their themed learning this term. The children experienced chores poor children would do in their homes and in a wash house. After lunch, they spent a short period in a Victorian classroom (with a very strict teacher!) chanting tables, writing on slates and using quill pens and ink. They then relaxed and had fun playing with Victorian toys and exploring the rest of the museum. A huge thank you to Janey who accompanied the children.

Today we say a very sad goodbye to Mrs Stevenson. Mrs Stevenson has worked in our school office for 24 years. She has been a wonderful member of staff, often juggling a variety of roles and responsibilities, having to multi-task extensively and for running the office so effectively. Thank you – we wish you all the very best.

We would also like to say goodbye to Mrs Cathy Bennion. Cathy has served the Goathland community for many years and has added much value to the lives of so many children with the authentic care she has always provided. Thank you Mrs Bennion, we wish you all the very best and a speedy recovery.

A massive thank you to Deborah Reddy who has been working with all children in the school during this term. She has done a fantastic job and moved on their learning significantly in a short space of time.

Thank you, Miss Reddy, for all you have done for us this term!

Thank you to Mike Bennet for his gift of handmade replica soldier figures which represent the Young Heroes lost from Goathland village in WW1. The children are thrilled to have one each and as a school we intend to complete the centenary walk in

the near future to see the full size figures.

All the staff at Goathland would like to wish you a very happy summer and we look forward to seeing you in September!
