Chapter 6 ENUMERATION . ENUMERATION The spermatophytic plants with their accepted names as per The Plant List [http://www.theplantlist.org/ ], through proper taxonomic treatments of recorded species and infra-specific taxa, collected from Gorumara National Park has been arranged in compliance with the presently accepted APG-III (Chase & Reveal, 2009) system of classification. Further, for better convenience the presentation of each species in the enumeration the genera and species under the families are arranged in alphabetical order. In case of Gymnosperms, four families with their genera and species also arranged in alphabetical order. The following sequence of enumeration is taken into consideration while enumerating each identified plants. (a) Accepted name, (b) Basionym if any, (c) Synonyms if any, (d) Homonym if any, (e) Vernacular name if any, (f) Description, (g) Flowering and fruiting periods, (h) Specimen cited, (i) Local distribution, and (j) General distribution. Each individual taxon is being treated here with the protologue at first along with the author citation and then referring the available important references for overall and/or adjacent floras and taxonomic treatments. Mentioned below is the list of important books, selected scientific journals, papers, newsletters and periodicals those have been referred during the citation of references. The list also provides standardized acronyms for each taxon and information on nativity, physiognomy, and wetness ratings. Annotated comments for selected taxa provide taxonomic, floristic, and ecological information, particularly for taxa not recognized in recent treatments of the Missouri flora. Synonymy crosswalks are provided for three references commonly used in Missouri. A discussion of the concept and application of Floristic Quality Assessment is presented. To accurately reflect ecological and taxonomic relationships, new combinations are validated for two distinct taxa, Dichanthelium ashei and D. werneri , and problems in application of infraspecific taxon names within Quercus shumardii are clarified. Bridges Botanical and Ecological Consultant, 7752 Holly Tree Place NW, Bremerton, WA 98312-1063 [email protected] ABSTRACT Floristic composition of the Florida dry prairie landscape was compiled from 291 sites in nine south-central peninsular counties. Floristic lists were based upon field inventory and compilation from reliable sources to- taling 11,250 site and community type-specific observations and were analyzed by region (Kissimmee River, Desoto/Glades “Big Prairie,” and Myakka). The known vascular flora consists of 658 vascular plant taxa, rep- resenting 317 genera and 115 families. Families with the highest number of species are Poaceae (103), Asteraceae (78), Cyperaceae (76), Fabaceae (23), Scrophulariaceae (20), and Orchidaceae (18). The most diverse genera are Rhynchospora (29), Dichanthelium (17), Ludwigia (13), Xyris (12), and Andropogon (11). Of this flora 24 taxa are endemic to central or southern peninsular Florida, primarily within the pine savanna- flatwood/dry prairie landscape, and 41 taxa are of Floridian biotic affinity. Although most species are not re- gionally specific, a few (Carphephorus carnosus, Ctenium aromaticum, and Liatris spicata) appear to be ab- sent from the Myakka prairie region, while Marshallia tenuifolia appears to be absent from both the Desoto/ Glades and Myakka prairie regions. Within the dry prairie landscape Hypericum edisonianum is restricted to the Desoto/Glades region. A few other species somewhat differentiate between prairie regions; however, most occur in other habitats in the counties where they are absent or nearly absent from dry prairie. -

Tropical Plant Research 4(1): 77–80] Eleocharis R.Br. is a cosmopolitan genus of the family Cyperaceae which comprises about 200 species, distributed in tropical, subtropical, and temperate regions of the world (Gonzalez-Elizondo & Peterson 1997, Mabberley 2009). Prasad & Singh (2002) mentioned about 21 species of this genus from India. During field expedition for the project of Flora of Kyd, James and Pitman islands, the authors came across with interesting specimens of Eleocharis from water logged field in Shoal bay area of South Andaman. On Critical study, perusal of literature and consultation of the herbarium at PBL, the specimens were identified as Eleocharis atropurpurea (Retz.) J. Presl & C. Presl, and Eleocharis acutangula (Roxb.) Schult. A thorough scrutiny of the literature (Rao 1986, Lakshminarasimhan & Rao 1996, Mathew 1998, Pandey & Diwakar 2008, Murugan et al. 2016) revealed that Eleocharis atropurpurea (Retz.) J. Presl & C. -

Br., está conformado por hierbas de tallo fotosintético, hojas simples reducidas a solo la vaina, e inflorescencia tipo espiguilla terminal. El género pertenece a la familia Cyperaceae (430 ssp), la tercera en importancia para el país, por el número de especies dentro de las monocotiledóneas, precedida por Orchidacedae (1632 ssp) y Poaceae (755 ssp). Los Eleocharis cuentan con 258 especies en el mundo y 40 para Venezuela, siendo de amplia distribución geográfica dentro del territorio nacional. Este género está circunscrito dentro de la Tribu Scirpeae y a partir de 2010 se incluyó en la Tribu Eleocharideae, denotando que sus características taxonómicas conforman su principal dificultad al momento de identificar a las especies, pues debe estar en etapa reproductiva para completar los caracteres morfológicos distintivos. El objetivo de la presente investigación es establecer relaciones sistemáticas, aclarar la circunscripción infragenérica, facilitar herramientas para definir taxonómicamente a las especies del género Eleocharis en Venezuela, aportar información fitogeográfica, morfológica, anatómica y sistemática de sus taxa. -

ABSTRACT After 7 years of intensive explorations during 2013-2020 in South Andaman Islands, we recorded a total of 1376 wild and naturalized vascular plant taxa representing 1364 species belonging to 701 genera and 153 families, of which 95% of the taxa are based on primary collections.
