MATCHUP GAME NOTES • The Soaring Eagles continued to play the role of the giant killer in their last contest. The Purple and Gold took down a ranked opponent for the second consecutive game in the form of No. 2 SUNY Geneseo on Tuesday evening. EC used an early spurt of offense to earn a 4-2 victory on its home ice at the Murray Athletic Center. With the victory, Elmira improved to 3-1-1 against ranked opponents this season, with the lone blemish coming against then No. 5 ELMIRA COLLEGE Hobart in the season opener. SOARING EAGLES (9-3-1, 5-2-0 UCHC) • Junior netminder Chris Janzen ’21 turned in a masterful performance between the pipes against the Knights. Janzen stood tall as Geneseo peppered him with 47 shots, ending the contest with a season-high 45 saves. On the season, the Pelham, Ontario native leads the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) in both goals-against average (2.02) and save percentage (.937).
