Welcome back to Te Kura Taumata o Panguru 2016. Our Year of Great achievements, high expectations and utter commitment to even better and more success than ever! Well we sure have started with a fantastic high in terms of enrolments. Our classes are filling up to the rafters with very enthusiastic, bright bubbly and smiley faced children that are keen to take on the world of learning. To all our new parents and new students, I sincerely hope you enjoy your time at Te Kura Taumata o Panguru. A Special thank you to all our parents who attended the schools open day held on the 27th of January, we are certainly pleased with the outcome and would like to extend and invitation to all new parents to come in to the school sit in on classes, although it is courteous to inform the school office that you are coming in so the teacher can be informed or sign up to our School face book page or go on our school website www.kurapanguru.com or just keep up to date with what is happening at our school and in our community through newsletters and talking with your children.

Our school is a BYOD school which means that students are allowed to bring add value to their learning. Please contact the school office , ask for Darlene on Monday to Wednesdays 9 3.30pm and she will talk you through the deals we have for chromebooks and ipads.

Our school office hours are open Monday to Friday 9-1pm , after this time the phones will be put on night service and your calls will be dealt with the next working day alternatively you can email Tracey Te Tai at [email protected] or [email protected] This is to ensure efficiency in dealing with your queries in a timely manner.

School Uniform Our students are looking fantastic in their uniforms , this shows the pride that they not only take in themselves but in their school. Please ensure that your child is in the correct school uniform every day, and note that jandals are not school footwear these are a casual footwear for other activities. School homework Due to feedback from the parent community, there is a school wide effort this year to ensure all students have homework every day. Please ask your child about their homework often. You may see them on their computers on a site called e ako, education perfect , mathsbuddy, studyit or working from a Sigma book or they may have a handout that is labelled homeplay or just writing in their books. We are pleased with the children’s attitude to our homework push this year and are committed to seeing it through the whole year with regular intervals of receiving feedback not only from the students but from you as parents as well.

Please check the calendar of events keep in a handy place. Like our students who have to set goals teachers have to as well so one of my goals is to communicate to the parent community better and more regularly as sometimes parents don’t know what is going on and get annoyed with short notice given etc, so to combat this I am sending out a separate flyer to advertise the events as we know them now, so ask that you put it in a safe place so that you can check when you need to. A warning though, sometimes there are opportunities that come up out of the blue and because I don’t like our children to miss out I will take the liberty to allow myself or my students to attend an event with parental permission. YOU still have the right to refuse permission. I and my staff are only the caretakers of your children, known in law as “loco parentis’. The newsletter is full with ‘student voice’. They are not all grammatically correct, but we are a school and their mistake is our core business, so enjoy the read!
