About BLUE-ETS BLUE-ETS is the acronym for BLUE-Enterprise and Trade Statistics (see www.blue-ets.eu). It is a Collaborative Project running from 2010 to 2013 and is funded by the in the EU Seventh Framework Programme. BLUE-ETS is tailored to the objectives of the EU Commission Programme for the Modernization of European Enterprise and Trade Statistics (MEETS). Its main purpose is research into issues related to: reduction of response burdens, modernizing the collection of enterprise data and making better use of administrative data sources. It is thus designed to inform on one of EU NSIs key challenges, namely, to provide high quality and robust statistical information for better policy making and socio-economic research. The key aim of BLUE- ETS is to support and contribute to the success of meeting the MEETS objectives and related EU Commission Communications, including Better Regulation for Growth and Jobs in the ; Action Programme for Reducing Administrative Burdens in the European Union; and the reduction of the response burden, simplification and priority setting in the field of Community statistics.

An additional priority of BLUE-ETS is to foster a dialogue between producers and users of statistics; official statisticians, researchers and policy-makers, especially in “unfolding and mapping” new areas, where challenges are more demanding. The objective is to establish a dialogue so as to identify concerns, to enhance mutual understanding and, wherever possible and feasible, arrive at a consensus on an agenda on statistical challenges and priorities.
