196I.1962 FISH PLANTING REPORT Attached ie a detailed planting report for Fiscal Year ending June 30, 1962. The operations of the Fisheries Division for the year ending June 30 were very much of a routine nature so far as production and distribution were concerned. However, better than usual water conditions in most areas in the spring of. 1962 have been very helpful in maintaining good fishing throughout the summer. The one exception to this would be the Prescott area where the loss of Hassayampa Lake which was taken over by the City of Prescott to augment the domestic water supply and the fact that Granite Basin Lake did not receive any spring runoff reeulted in limited planting in the atea. Some trout fishing was provided for this area by planting trout in Watson Lake which is a very marginal trout water. Water conditiong in many of our lakes and streams were very low and of poor quality during the first part of the fiscal year curtailing fishing to some extent in most trout areas but warm water fishing maintained a good average throughout the aeason. A good runoff during the spring made much better conditions for the spring fishing. The D-J Project F-7-R continues to supply valuabl.e information for the management of both the warm and cold water fishery.
