Current GSU Engagements: Collaborative Research Study with HBU on Early Childhood Education (January 2018 – Present) In the summer of 2018, Dr. Chenyi Zhang and Dr. Gary Bingham, professors in the Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education, received the FIPE Grant from the Office of International Initiatives. As a part of their study to investigate relations among young children's early literacy, writing, and self- regulation skills in China and the United States. Dr. Zhang and Dr. Bingham spent a week of November at Hebei University in China meeting with school officials, giving presentations, and providing guidance. The scholars were paired with GSU faculty in the Learning Sciences (Jonathan Cohen), Educational Policy Studies (Hongli Li), and Applied Linguistics & English as a Second Language (Viviana Cortes).

GSU Faculty Mentoring Program Welcomed HBU Visiting Scholars (Spring 2017) In January of 2017, nine visiting scholars from Hebei University in China arrived at GSU to participate in the Office of International Initiative's Faculty Mentoring Program. The scholars were paired with GSU faculty in Art & Design, Early Childhood & Elementary Education, Physics & Astronomy, History, Biology, Mathematics & Statistics, English and Communication. GSU Mentors included Gary Bingham, Pam Longobardi, Ritu Aneja, Xiaolin Hu, Douglas Reynolds, Alessandra Raengo, Unil Perera, Raj Sunderraman, and Lynee Gaillet.

GSU Faculty Mentoring Program Welcomed HBU Visiting Scholars (Fall 2016) In August of 2016, nine visiting scholars from Hebei University in China arrived at GSU to participate in the Office of International Initiative's Faculty Mentoring Program The scholars were paired with GSU faculty in the Economics, Middle & Secondary Education, Physics & Astronomy, History, Chemistry, Mathematics & Statistics, Computer Science and Respiratory Therapy. GSU Mentors included Shif Gurmu, Gertrude Tinker Sachs, Unil Perera, Ghulam Nadri, Gangli Wang, Guantao Chen, Glenn Eskew, Raj Sunderraman, and Douglas Gardenhire.

The scholars were paired with GSU faculty in the Economics, Education Policy Studies, Finance, Computer Science, Chemistry, Communication, Respiratory Therapy, Applied Linguistics & ESL and Mathematics & Statistics departments. GSU Mentors included Jorge Martinez, Raj Sunderraman, Hongli Li, Viviana Cortes, Anu Bourgeois, Tim Barouch, Jason Zhongshan Li, Gangli Wang, Douglas Gardenhire and Lixin Huang.
