Proponents and opponents of this issue are lobbying politicians. Newly elected Governor and most Democrats support this legalization while most Republicans oppose such a move. One major concern over the legalization of recreational marijuana is impaired driving. There is no reliable test to measure the amount of THC in a person’s system. Unlike with alcohol, there is no limit to determine when an indi- vidual is too impaired to drive. Minnesota does not need more impaired drivers on its roads. Law enforcement has a tough enough job already. The legalization of recreational marijuana will only make their job more difficult. Another concern is the trickle down affect the legalization of recreational marijuana will have on younger people.
