The Bayway Community Advisory Panel (CAP) is a committee of community representatives from Linden, Rahway, Elizabeth and including neighbors, educators, retirees, public officials, emergency responders, and environmentalists who attend quarterly meetings that serve as a forum for dialogue between the community and company representatives from , Infineum USA L.P., Linden Cogen Plant, Veolia North America, Solutia, and Linden VFT LLC.

Objectives of the CAP include: - Addressing the community’s safety, health, environmental, educational and civic issues, as well as perceptions and expectations - Disseminating factual information to the community in an unbiased manner - Discussing key company issues - Discussing and make recommendations on controversial matters

For the year 2020, the Bayway CAP has elected to offer High School Seniors who are residents of Linden, Elizabeth, Rahway, and Staten Island the opportunity to be awarded a municipality scholarship. Several scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded to students in these municipalities. This scholarship is open to candidates who will be pursuing a college education in the Industrial, Process Technology, or Engineering fields (i.e., Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, Computer), supporting the Chemical & Refining Industries (non-medical).

Attached is the scholarship application form to share with students. Please have interested students complete the application form - must be computer generated. Handwritten applications will not be accepted. Applications must be postmarked on or before April 20, 2020. Please note Section I on application must be completed. Candidates must also include a copy of their high school transcript with SAT/ACT scores, letter of recommendation from science or math teacher, and essay with their application and return to:

The scholarship committee will be taking the following areas into consideration when reviewing the applications: application (computer-generated and all sections completed), academics (transcript/ SAT/ACT scores), attendance, school-related extracurricular and leadership activities, community service/volunteer activities, financial need, essay, science/math teacher recommendation letter(s). The application should be prepared mainly by the student; assistance by others is permitted if necessary.

A Scholarship Awards Dinner will take place on June 9, 2020 for the winners.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION DEADLINE APRIL 20, 2020 SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS Scholarship will be awarded to applicants in the following areas: Industrial, Process Technology, or Engineering, i.e., Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, Computer. Each award will be a $1,000.00 scholarship; payable directly to the institution applicant is attending only upon the furnishing of proof of enrollment at said college. Recipients must be accepted by an accredited institution of higher learning (college, university, career or vocational school) and be enrolled in Industrial, Process Technology or Engineering curriculum. Scholarship recipients must provide proof of enrollment by November 2, 2020 or the CAP Scholarship Committee reserves the right to reallocate the funds. Maximum award is $1,000.00.

ELIGIBILITY Applications are limited to High School Seniors living in Linden, Elizabeth, Rahway, or Staten Island.

Applications that are not computer generated will not be considered.

Diploma Requirements: The applicant must be a bona fide student of a private, parochial, or public school eligible to receive a high school diploma at the completion of the senior year prior to September 1, 2020 of the effective academic school year.

Aspirations: The student must have a definite plan to pursue a post-high school program of education or training on a full-time basis, in Industrial, Process Technology, or Engineering curriculum.

Character: The applicant must have consistent attendance, good citizenship traits, and be of sound moral character.

TIME GUIDELINES & APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS Deadline: Absolute deadline – applications must be postmarked by April 20, 2020. No exceptions. Applications must be computer generated. Please ensure all items on the final checklist on back page of application are completed. Please note that information in Section I is due on May 1st.
