DESCRIPTION: Based on the award-winning Loukoumi series by Nick Katsoris, Make a Difference with Loukoumi, will be a fun filled animated and live action special, that will entertain and encourage kids (and adults) to make a difference in their lives and the lives of others.

Coinciding with National Make a Difference Day (October 25th, 2014) and National Bullying Prevention Month, Make a Difference with Loukoumi, will feature stories and animated segments from two popular books in the series, Loukoumi's Good Deeds and Loukoumi and The Schoolyard Bully. Segments will feature some of Loukoumi's celebrity friends, such as Jennifer Aniston, John Aniston, Nia Vardalos, Morgan Freeman, Olympia Dukakis, and Gloria Gaynor among others. Other segments will be modeled after the lessons in the books including: Making a difference and doing good deeds (Loukoumi's Good Deeds & Loukoumi's Gift), believing in yourself and following your career dreams where a child will live a day in their dream career (Growing Up With Loukoumi), a cooking segment (Loukoumi's Celebrity Cookbook) as well as bullying awareness (Loukoumi and the Schoolyard Bully) in connection with the National Bullying Prevention Center.

The Loukoumi book series recently won a USA Weekend National Make A Difference Day Award for uniting 20,000 kids each October to do good deeds including a $10,000 donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. It has also has been featured on The View, Fox & Friends, Entertainment Tonight, People Magazine, Parents Magazine, USA Today, The New York Times, The Martha Stewart Show, Parade Magazine, and many others. Proceeds from the books, and special go to St Jude Children's Research Hospital via PSAs and a call-in number where viewers can make donations to St. Jude.

"It was really special to narrate "Loukoumi's Good Deeds" on CD, not only because of how inspirational it is for kids, but because it was an opportunity to work with my Dad. I also loved that it was supporting a personal cause of mine, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. I am thrilled that the Loukoumi books are continuing to make a difference in the lives of children through this wonderful Make A Difference Day program." – Jennifer Aniston

The Loukoumi book series has long been a friend to children, opening their eyes to the world around them. Loukoumi And The Schoolyard Bully provides comfort and assurance to kids who are frightened and bewildered by bullying. A worthy subject. We at St. Jude Children s Research Hospital are honored to be beneficiaries of such a noble project. --Marlo Thomas, National Outreach Director The Loukoumi Make A Difference Foundation, Inc.

Your Child Can be part of the nationally syndicated Loukoumi Television Special

Your child can be part of our Make A Difference with Loukoumi Television Special by making a difference themselves! And we want to make their dreams come true!

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:

 For 5 years now, Author Nick Katsoris has sponsored the Make A Difference with Loukoumi project where children read the book “Loukoumi’s Good Deeds” and then pledge to do their own good deed on National Make A Difference Day.  Last October, over 20,000 children participated by performing over 20,000 good deeds!  Earlier this month, our Make A Difference with Loukoumi project was selected from over 3 million Americans to receive a National Make A Difference Award by the hosts of the TODAY Show and USA Weekend Magazine including a $10,000 charitable donation from Newman’s Own that we donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  This has inspired author Nick Katsoris to produce a one hour nationally syndicated television special this Fall titled Make A Difference with Loukoumi including 7 segments modeled after the life lessons in the Loukoumi book series. Featured in the special will be Jennifer Aniston, Olympia Dukakis, Gloria Gaynor, Morgan Freeman, Celebrity Chef Cat Cora and others.  The program will be a fundraising project for St. Jude where St. Jude public service announcements will air during commercial breaks and a call-in number will appear for viewers to pledge donations to St. Jude.  On Monday, June 23 will be a Loukoumi & Friends benefit concert, which will be filmed for our Fall Television Special.  Student Tickets to the show are $100. In lieu of purchasing a ticket to the Loukoumi & Friends Concert, students may purchase 6 Loukoumi Books for $120 (or students may seek individual donors to sponsor each individual book donation as per the sponsor form attached). The books will be donated by the school to their favorite charitable organization for children in need of books. Suggestions are welcome.

 100% of the proceeds from the purchased books would be donated to the Loukoumi Make A Difference Foundation, Inc., which would fund the Make A Difference with Loukoumi Television Special benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  For every 6 Loukoumi books purchased and donated, each student will receive 1 ticket to the Loukoumi And Friends Benefit Concert. Additional adult tickets may be purchased for $150.  All kids attending the concert will automatically be entered into our exclusive Dream Day Contest to be eligible to live their Dream Day in a special segment in the Loukoumi Television Special. The contest is limited to the first 250 students that enter and we are only approaching an exclusive list of schools that have believed in Loukoumi’s mission and hosted Loukoumi events over the last 10 years. Students in the audience will be part of the televised special.  Participating students must submit a video (recorded from a cell phone is perfect) :30 thirty seconds or less completing the following statement: Hi, my name is ___from the _____ School and when I grow up I want to be a ______because…. Videos must be submitted by June 1 via email to [email protected].  The winner will be announced at the concert. One lucky winner in the audience will be selected that night to live their Dream Day. They will be filmed live as we call their name and their Dream Day will be filmed in a subsequent televised segment that will air in our nationally syndicated Loukoumi Television special this October.  Schools with 50 or more students participating will also be given a :15 second television slot within the Make A Difference with Loukoumi Television Special to highlight them and what they plan to do for National Make A Difference Day!  Students Participating must complete the attached form by May 20. Video and payment are not due until June 1.
