1913 1938 Souvenir Program On the Occasion of THE SILVER SACERDOTAL JUBILEE OF THE VERY REVEREND MARSHALL FRANCIS WINNE, C. M., Ph. D. Pastor ST. VINCENT'S CHURCH City, June Thirteen Nineteen Hundred Thirty-Eight HIS HOLINESS POPE PIUS, XI His Excellency Most Rev. Thomas F. Lillis, D.D. Bishop of Kansas City, Mo. His Excellency Most Rev. Amleto G. Cicognani, D.D. Apostolic Delegate His Excellency Most Rev. John J. Glennon, D.D. Archbishop of St. Louis, Mo. Very Reverend Marshall Francis Winne, C. M., Ph. E. To pen a sketch of our beloved and zealous Pastor and Jubilarian is a source of genuine joy and inspiration to this writer. And may a goodly measure of happiness come to him on reading this short biography. Some parts of it will undoubtedly cause him to wonder and to exclaim: “Where did the writer get this information?" Let’s keep that a secret. It is hoped that the fond memories recalled in this sketch and in this festive program will add greatly to the joys of the Jubilee celebration. Father Marshall Francis Winne, C.M., Ph. D., is a native of California and an adopted son of Missouri. He has lived about fifteen years in this great state. He was born in Sacramento. At the age of eleven the family moved to Los Angeles. He completed his high school and college curricula at St. Vincent’s College. He was President of the St. Vincent s Altar Boys’ Club under the late Bishop Glass, C.M., who was President of St. Vincent’s College. About fifty altar boys participated in the beautiful liturgical ceremonies during Father Winne’s presidency of the club. Bishop Glass accompanied Father Winne to St. Mary’s Seminary, Perryville, Missouri, in 1908, where our Very Reverend Jubilarian completed his sacred studies for the holy Priesthood. The late Bishop Patrick James Conaty, D.D., ordained Father Winne in St. Vincent’s Church, Los Angeles, on June 13, 1913. Mr. and Mrs. Frank P. Winne were the happy parents at the ordination of their son. It is Father Winne's grand privilege, joy and blessing to have his good Mother on his silver sacerdotal jubilee day. Two brothers, Frank P., Jr., and Garrett, and one sister, Mrs. Harold J. Turner, will rejoice with Father Winne today. During the twenty-five years of his priestly life, Father Winne was Professor and President of the University of Dallas; Professor at Kenrick Seminary and Webster College, Webster Groves, Missouri; Director of Students and Professor at St. Thomas’ Seminary and Loretto Heights College, Denver, Colorado; Principal at De Paul Academy, Chicago, Illinois; President of the Diocesan Los Angeles College, Los Angeles, California; and Pastor of St. Vincent’s Church, Kansas City, Missouri. This writer has the information that the family of our Very Reverend Jubilarian first came to what is now State in 1644. Nineteen of the family were enlisted men and officers in the War of the Revolution between the Colonies and England. There are few priests who are of longer American ancestry. And to God, The Church and His Mother Your Son Has always been faithful, loving and true. And today, you, your priestly son and we Are grateful, happy and thoughtful That God has spared both for this priestly Jubilee.
