SAINT BEDE ACADEMY Catholic Education in the Benedictine Tradition Since 1890 Our Mission Saint Bede Academy is a Catholic high school in the Benedictine tradition which endeavors to prepare students for college and for life by welcoming them into a community of learning permeated by Christian values. We serve approximately 300 boarding and day students in grades 9-12. Why St. Bede? Upon graduation, Saint Bede students will have begun to develop a lifelong commitment to learning. They will have a firm grounding in Christian doctrine and Catholic teaching, and will have learned how to use gospel values to evaluate social, moral and political situations. They will have demonstrated the ability to listen attentively, read critically, write and speak clearly, and think analytically. They will have determined some of their personal strengths and weaknesses, developed the ability to work with others, and have been expected to take responsibility for their own actions.

Above all, they will have begun to see true humility, understanding that this demands an acceptance of their dependent relationship to God. Bede stay with us forever! Your future starts here! Tuition Room and Board is a very comprehensive cost that includes all of the following:

• Room & Board (including domestic health insurance). • Ground transportation to/from St. Bede and Chicago O’Hare Airport (ORD) in August and May. • College Planning, test prep and Guidance Services. • Monthly supervised excursions. • HP Chromebook device for academic use. • Admission to all school events Graduation • Textbook subscription fees Students are required to achieve 25 credits and • Yearbook & Spirit Day Shirt a minimum of 100 hours of Christian service prior to graduation. (A graduated scale based on Cost does not include: entry.) Graduating students who reach the high- Sports packages for various extra- est number of service hours are eligible to re- curricular sports and activities. Uniforms (approximate cost: $300) ceive the Fr. Arthur Schmidt, O.S.B. Service Award. The boarding facility will be closed during the two week Christmas break. Safe and modern boarding houses (one each for boys & girls) with security cameras and keypad entry house up to 16 students each. Each house has laundry facilities, WiFi, TV/Lounge area and kitchen for student use. Both houses have full- time, on-site parents living adjacent to the boarding rooms.

While we accept students in each grade level, we will only accept 12th grade stu- dents if they will be able to graduate with their class.

Screening: All students are subject to random drug screening through a hair sample test. Fifteen to twenty percent of the student population will be randomly tested a second time each year. Commitment to Learning

Through our tri- level academic program, all students are continually challenged to extend their skills and perform to the peak of their abilities. The program consists of an Honors level, College Prep level and an Academic level to best fi t the needs of the individual student. Athletic Mission The goal of the Saint Bede athletic program is for students to enjoy and benefi t from the high school experience. Our program stresses the need for balance in the life of the student-athlete between classroom and gym or playing fi eld, teamwork and leadership, Christ-like behavior and the thrill of competition and victory. We off er team and individual sports at a variety of levels and strive to provide an activity to meet the interests and abilities of every student. We emphasize participation with good sportsmanship while continually motivating our athletes to improve their skills and level of performance.
