Our Lady and St Chad,

Announcement from the Prior Administrator,

Dear parishioners of Kirkbymoorside and

I am writing to you today with information about forthcoming appointments related to the parish of Our Lady and St Chad, Kirkbymoorside, with its Chapel of Ease at St Mary’s, Helmsley.

After almost eighteen years’ service in Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley, I have asked Fr Kentigern to relinquish his pastoral role in the parish and devote his time to pastoral work with visitors at Ampleforth Abbey, particularly with the number of people coming to our Visitor Centre.

The new parish priest will be Fr George Corrie, currently the Sub-prior at Ampleforth Abbey. Since he joined the monastic community at Ampleforth in 1991, Fr George has worked in a number of our parishes: St Mary’s, ; St Mary’s, Bamber Bridge; and St John’s, . He has also worked as a school chaplain and in the Hospitality team.

The changeover period will begin on Monday 1 July and will come into effect from Thursday 1 August 2019.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to Fr Kentigern for his work since joining the pastoral team in Kirkbymoorside in September 2001 and pray that the Lord may continue to guide him in his work at Ampleforth Abbey.

I am grateful to the parishioners of Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley for the support and assistance thy have given to all the priests who have served in their midst in recent years. In thanking God for all you have done, I am sure that you will extend a warm welcome to Fr George and continue to work with him in the Church’s pastoral mission among the people of Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley.
