Soil Sampling

The size of the area from which soil samples are taken varies, but Should not be more than four hectares. Where field areas are greater than 4 Hectares sub samples are collected and identified by A,B,C or 1,2,3 etc. Method of sampling: A soil sample is made up by bulking at least 25 sub- samples taken from the area to be sampled. Soil sampling is achieved by following the pattern of a letter ‘W’. Samples must be taken using a soil auger which takes an even core of soil throughout the sampling. Depth of sampling: Grassland must be sampled to a depth of 75mm and arable land to a depth of 150mm.

This Nutrient Management Plan provides evidence, how David Drennan of 34 Drumbolg Road Upperlands Maghera makes best use of poultry manure from his poultry farm, for best crop and soil requirements on land banks under his control.

Non Technical Information

The Farm The land banks will use 6 tonnes of poultry Broiler manure demonstrated within this Nutrient Plan, on land under his control, approximately 5.50 spreadable Hectares used within the County of L’.

Nutrient budget

6 tonnes of Poultry Manure can be used on land banks under David Drennan’s control.

Analysis show Poultry Rearing manure (based on Broiler Manure Figures) contains a total, 33kg N and 16kg of P2O5 / 1000kg on a DM of 66%

Total nutrient content based on 33kg N; 16kg P2O5; / 1000kg 6t of Poultry Manure Nitrogen content 198 kg Phosphorus (P2O5) content 96 kg

Within the Nutrient Requirements any land bank with a soil index between 0 - 1, the crop uses 60% of the available P2O5

Available P2O5 9.6kg / 1000kg 6t of Poultry Manure

Phosphorus (P2O5) content 57.6 kg
