Resources for TGE Folks of Color Asian & Pacific Islander Family Pride – Mission is to end the isolation of Asian & Pacific Islander families with LGBT members through support, education and dialog. Black AIDS Institute – mission is to stop the AIDS epidemic in Black communities. Black Stripe – Resources for same-gender loving folks of African descent. Black Trans Advocacy Coalition – Advocating for health equity, employment and housing for Black Trans folks. Provides financial assistance, advocacy, local resources. Black Trans Travel Fund – Provides resources for Black Trans women for travel. Black Trans Media - Building the power of Black Trans folks by creating and supporting media that amplifies the black Trans experience. Black Transmen Inc. – Provides positive and affirming support to enrich the lives of Transmen. Black Transwomen Inc chaired by Dee Dee Waters, Black Trans woman activist based out of Houston, TX. The organization creates community and advocates for Black Trans women. Brave Space Alliance - first Black-led, Trans-led LGBTQ Center located on the South Side of Chicago. Brown Boi Project – A community of folks committed to transforming the privilege of masculinity, gender and race into tools to achieve racial and gender justice. Decrim NY is focused on decriminalizing and destigmatizing sex work in NYC and NY state. Familia TQLM - previously co-lead by Jennicet Gutierrez who was famous for protesting for Ending Trans Detention, this organization works at the local and national levels to achieve the collective liberation of Trans, queer, and gender nonconforming Latinxs through building community, organizing, advocacy, and education. Family Acceptance Project – discusses the importance of family support for LBGT youth. FIERCE -- Supports homeless LGBTQ youth of color. Mission is to build leadership and power among youth of color in NYC. Two Spirit and Two Spirit Resource Guide – Two Spirit Internet Resources – Information/links about being Two Spirit and its connections to First Nation and indigenous histories and identities. Two Spirit guide from Indian Health Services. Forward Together – a Arts and policy-based organization to give a voice and obtain rights for all people and all types of families. G.L.I.T.S. -- NYC based organization that focuses on providing resources (especially housing and medical care) to Trans sex workers. They are currently helping a lot of Trans folks who are being released from Rikers jail due to COVID-19 concerns (which is great and should be happening in more places). Their director Ceyenne Doroshow is another elder. House of Griffin-Gracy -- Educational retreat and respite house for Trans folks led by Miss Major and Sharyn Grayson, two of our oldest mothers who should be considered experts in our work. LGBTQ Freedom Fund – Raises funds for bail for LGBTQ folks. Educated communities about over-incarceration of LGBTQ folks. Marsha P. Johnson Institute -- They work to build up the leadership of TWOC. They do a lot of fundraising now for TWOC-led projects. Elle Hearns is the director. Move Along Report -- This amazing report was developed by a community research team with the support of the DC Trans Coalition. Includes incredibly important information about the safety needs of Trans sex workers and the violence they experience by police as DC attempts to enforce “Prostitution Free Zones”. Great data in support of decriminalizing sex work. National Black Justice Coalition – Civil rights organization dedicated to empowering Black LGBT folks. National Queer Asian and Pacific Islander Alliance – Seeks to build capacity of LGBT AAPI organizations, invigorate organizing, develop leadership and challenge homophobia, racism and anti-immigrant bias. National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network – A resource to help QTPoC to QTPoC therapists. Therapy for Queer People of Color is another similar resource. NYC Anti Violence Project -- Focuses on ending violence against LGBTQ folks and HIV affected folks. Played a major role in organizing protests against the murder of Layleen Polanco, a Trans woman who died of medical neglect in Rikers. The Okra Project - The Okra Project is a collective that seeks to address the global crisis faced by Black Trans people by bringing home cooked, healthy, and culturally specific meals and resources to Black Trans People. In light of recent murders of Black Trans folks, they also have a fund to pay for mental health supports for Black Trans folks. OLTT - Organizacion Latina Trans en Texas developed by Ana Andrea Molina, based out of Houston. Helps Trans people (mostly Trans women) in Texas with advocacy, temporary/emergency housing, name changes, etc. Princess Janae Place - New York State's first and only community based housing organization led by, and for, people of Trans experience. Princess Janae Place offers a community-based, safe and accessible place for people of Transgender experience to connect to critical services and support. SAGE Advocacy and Services for LGBTQ Elders - a national advocacy and services organization that’s been looking out for LGBT elders since 1978. Solutions Not Punishment Collaborative – A Black Trans and queer led collaborative that builds the power of our people to wage and win campaigns that force systematic divestment from the prison industrial complex and investment in services and supports. This mission is grounded in the commitment toward ending the mass crisis of passive genocide, incarceration, and criminalization of black Trans women, Trans/queer people and the larger Black community. Based in GA. Southerners on New Ground -- LGBTQ organization focused on the needs of POC, LGBTQ folks and other oppressed people in the south. Major force for Trans rights in the south with lots of Trans organizers. - They currently have a Free From Fear campaign that focuses on the safety of LGBTQ people of color by targeting systems of incarceration, including ICE. Sylvia Rivera Law Project -- Trans-led (and currently led by a TWOC) organization that provides legal support and opportunities to organize for Trans folks. There are many formerly incarcerated Trans women in their membership base and they do a lot of work to support Trans women who are currently incarcerated (usually for being sex workers). Tourmaline (formerly Reina Gossett) -- Tourmaline is an activist, queer theorist, and filmmaker who is a major voice for TWOC. She's done at least two film projects about Marsha P. Johnson and has some incredible written work, particularly the collectio - n Trap Door: Trans Cultural Production and the Politics of Visibility.. - Sibling Che Gossett is also a great scholar, archivist, and activist Transgender Emergency Fund of MA Critical assistance for low-income and homeless transgender people living in Massachusetts. Cecilia Gentili (who you may have seen in POSE) runs her own LGBTQ consulting firm Trans Equity Consulting. She's working legislation to decriminalize sex work in NYC with Ceyenne Doroshow. TransGriot - blog spot created by community member and activist Monica Roberts, based out of Houston, TX. The blog provides cultural commentary and criticism, as well as advocacy for the Trans community. Trans Justice Funding Project – A community-led funding initiative to support grassroots, Trans-justice groups run by and for Trans people. They center the leadership of Trans people organizing around their experiences with racism, economic injustice, Transmisogyny, ableism, immigration, incarceration, and other intersecting oppressions. Trans Latin@ Coalition - Co-founded and co-lead by Bamby Salcedo, advocates for the specific needs of the Trans Latin@ community that resides in the U.S.A. and to plan strategies that improve our quality of life, particularly those that that have been released from detention. TransLatinx Network (NYC) -- Provides advocacy, education, social support and resources for Trans folks in NYC, with a focus on latinx folks. Really good about providing food/Transportation for Trans folks who attend their events/services, which shows that they prioritize providing material resources (some non-profits think that’s not their job). Trans Resistance Trans Resistance is a community of black and brown trans people and cis allies coming together to address injustice and demand change. Trans Women of Color Collective - Provides wellness, community funds, and health services for Trans Women of Color with a specific initiative for Black Trans Women. The organization is led by Lourdes Ashley Hunter. Trevor Project: Support of Black and Brown Youth – Discussion on common feelings and ways to support youth during times of community oppression. .
