The flashy, speedy editing still gets in the way of enjoying the hand-to-hand choreography of lurching punches or flitting knives. Quite a forceful spy drama until author Robert Ludlum's usual formula kicks-in. Needless to say, the viewers also get to drink in some awesome landscape, particularly the snowy, wintry Moscow. Where Supremacy differs from Identity is that questions do get answered here eventually. Despite its grave themes or perhaps because or them , The Bourne Supremacy is still supremely thrilling. The strengths are amazing, and it's pretty impressive how thoroughly and successfully the movie rewrote the vocabulary of action cinema. A minor step above the entertaining yet underwhelming The Bourne Identity More than adequately serves as a no-nonsense escapist action thriller. As Bourne seeks to uncover his past and bury those who would cross him, director Paul Greengrass masterfully blends sight, sound and silence to do much more than entertain: This film leaves a deep psychological imprint. Bourne is beginning to recover some of his memories, and he is troubled by disjointed flashbacks of an assassination he carried out in a Berlin hotel. During the exchange, an assassin named Kirill plants Bourne's fingerprint on a bomb in the building's basement kills the agent and the source and steals the files and money, which he sells to Russian oil magnate Yuri Gretkov. Kirill travels to Goa to kill Bourne, but Bourne flees with Marie. As Bourne and Marie are driving away, Kirill fires a sniper rifle at the car and it veers off a bridge into a river. Kirill leaves, believing that he killed Bourne. Bourne manages to swim away undetected, leaving Marie dead in the river. Bourne travels to Italy to learn why he is again being targeted. After Landy's team finds the planted fingerprint and determines that it is linked to the CIA's secret Treadstone project, Landy flies to CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia to find out more information. A Russian politician, Vladimir Neski , was going to identify the thief, but before he could do so, he was murdered by his wife in a Berlin hotel, who then committed suicide. When Bourne arrives in Naples, Italy, he is detained by an Italian Carabinieri officer and a CIA interrogator, but Bourne incapacitates the two men and, after copying the agent's SIM card on his own cell phone, escapes. This allows Bourne to listen in on a call from Landy; he learns her name and phone number and finds out that he is suspected in the recent killings in Berlin. He steals a car and heads to Munich, where he interrogates another Treadstone agent, who tells him that the project was shut down following Conklin 's death. Bourne tracks down Landy in Berlin, and after determining that she is not running Treadstone, arranges to meet with Nicky, whom he interrogates. He learns that he is implicated in the death of two CIA agents in a case linked to the murder of Vladimir Neski, and also that Abbott was the head of Treadstone. Upon hearing part of their conversation over Nicky's transmitter, Landy begins to believe that Bourne is being framed. When Abbott's young associate Danny Zorn tells Abbott that he thinks Bourne was framed and provides evidence, Abbott stabs him. After some other successful movies in Germany, she starred in several Hollywood productions, most prominently The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy and lived one year in Los Angeles. After her return to Berlin, she continues working with German and international directors. Joan Allen Actor. Matt has an older brother, Kyle, a sculptor. His father was of English and Scottish descent, and his mother is of Finnish and Swedish ancestry. The family lived in Newton until his parents divorced in , when Damon and his brother moved with his mother to Cambridge. He grew up in a stable community, and was raised near actor Ben Affleck. Damon attended Cambridge Rindge and Latin School and he performed in a number of theater productions during his time there. He attended Harvard University as an English major. While in Harvard, he kept on skipping classes to pursue acting projects, which included the TNT original film, Rising Son , and prep-school drama, School Ties It was until his film, Geronimo: An American Legend , was expected to be a big success that he decided to drop out of university completely. Arriving in Hollywood, Matt managed to get his first break with a part in the romantic comedy, Mystic Pizza However, the film did not do too well and his film career failed to take off. Not letting failure discourage him from acting, he went for another audition, and managed to get a starring role in School Ties Up next for Matt was a role as a soldier who had problems with drug-addiction in the movie, Courage Under Fire Matt had, in fact, lost forty pounds for his role which resulted in health problems. The following year, he garnered accolades for Good Will Hunting , a screenplay he had originally written for an English class at Harvard University. In the year , Matt played the title role in Steven Spielberg's film, Saving Private Ryan , which was one of the most acclaimed films in that year. Matt had the opportunity of working with Tom Hanks and Vin Diesel while filming that movie. That same year, he starred as an earnest law student and reformed poker player in Rounders , starring opposite Edward Norton and John Malkovich. The next year, Matt rejoined his childhood friend, Ben Affleck and fellow comedian, Chris Rock, in the comedy Dogma Bourne Supremacy, The | Reelviews Movie Reviews Presumably, it is lost during the crash. Jarda Marton Csokas , another ex-Treadstone agent, also carries a Beretta. Consulate agent John Nevins Tim Griffin. It is most notably seen when he confronts Treadstone asset Jarda in his home, and when Bourne uses it to shoot through the door of his stolen taxi at Kirill's stolen Mercedes in Moscow and some how shoots 12 rounds instead of the P's 8. Bourne also used a P in his flashback to the Neski double-murder his first assignment. It is most notably seen in his hands when he wounds Bourne from an overhead bridge while in Moscow, and later during the film's final car chase when fired from Kirill's Mercedes towards Bourne's taxi. There is also a publicity photo of Bourne Matt Damon firing a standard black first-gen P99, though no scene in the movie depicts this. He does, however, use one to threaten Ward Abbott in his hotel room. The scene is very brief and quick so the screenshots are rather blurry but upon closer look the slide definitely puts it in the Glock family not the XD. One of the German SEK Spezialeinsatzkommando officers that are sent to arrest Bourne is armed with a pistol gripped fitted with a door breaching muzzle brake and red dot sight. In real life the German Police uses Benelli shotguns, although without any of the attachments, so this is another error regarding the firearms. The poster image of Bourne with a scoped sniper rifle appears to show him holding this weapon, however this rifle is actually an unmodified Blaser R93 Sniper Rifle. The rifle in question is not a WA; it is a bolt-action design whereas the WA is a semi-automatic , and the receiver is clearly the wrong shape. Jump to: navigation , search. Metacritic Reviews.
