The top international coffee producers will exhibit their products, and the industry’s finest professionals will show off their skills In Rimini, tens of baristas selected from all over Italy will battle for the title of champion in the Italian Baristi, Art, Coffee In Good Spirits, Brewers Cup, Cup Tasters, Ibrik and Championships. At Sigep the magnificent 7 of the coffee world The Italian finals of the various special competitions dedicated to the HALL world of coffee will be staged in the prestigious COFFEE ARENA, in Pavilion D1 of the exhibition centre of Rimini, to appoint the 7 winners D2 who will represent Italy at world level. The competitions are part of the prestigious international World Coffee Event circuit.

Saturday CIBC Italian Barista Championship Cafeteria valid for the WBC (World Barista Championship) 18 The competition consists in preparing, within a maximum time of 15 minutes, Sunday 4 , 4 coffee and milk-based beverages, hot and 4 espres- so-based customized non-alcoholic drinks, to be served to a panel of expert CIBC judges/tasters. The rules of the HALL HALL 19 competition are the same as those of the WBC (World Baris- D1 D1 ta Championship), a veritable “Barista Olympics”. FINALS IBRIK Italian Ibrik Championship Sunday valid for the WCIC (World Cezve /Ibrik Championship) 19 The competition highlights the preparation of coffee using the Ibrik, a pot specifically designed to pre- pare a particular type of cof- fee widely consumed in parts IBRIK of Eastern Europe, the Middle HALL East and North Africa. The pot, D1 which can be made of met- al, brass, copper or ceramic, is equipped with a long handle and a rim specifically designed to serve coffee. HALL D1 Monday CILA Italian Championship valid for the WLA 20 (World Latte Art Championship) Tuesday In this type of competition, the competitors must show dexterity and ar- tistic spirit. The participants will have to overcome various stages before

Here, in a maximum time of 10 minutes they will have to prepare 4 artistic coffee and milk-based bev- HALL 21 erages, two coffee-based and D1 two milk-based. Different tech- niques can be used: decoration and “free pour”; two macchiato must also be pre- pared using the “free pour” technique, with identical de- sign, to be presented to 2 vi- HALL sual judges, 1 technical judge D1 and a head judge. FINALS CIGS Italian Coffee Championship Monday in Good Spirits valid for the WCIGS (World Coffee in Good Spirits 20 Championship) The Coffee in Good Spirits is a fascinating speciality which combines

CIGS the world of coffee and that of HALL bartending, to create classic or fantasy drinks. In this type of D1 competition, the competitors have 10 minutes to prepare two Irish and two cock- tails, hot or cold, made with hot coffee and spirits.

FINALS BREWERS CUP Italian championship Monday valid for the WBRC ()

Preparation method common in the Nordic countries, the United States 20 and Asian countries which is also gaining in popularity in Ita- ly. The coffee will be brewed by the competitors using so-called ‘pourover’ manual methods, i.e., filtration systems whereby the CUP barista pours hot water over the coffee powder which is retained by a filter. The partic- ipants, who will prepare three BREWERS drinks each to be served to HALL 3 sensory judges, will try to not only obtain a good cup of coffee but also prepare it correctly with a solid value to be measured by the judges using D1 a ‘refractometer’. SELECTIONS Italian Cup Tasting Championship FINALS valid for the WCTC Tuesday (World Cup Tasters Championship) In this competition the competitors will demonstrate their ability to dis- 21 tinguish the differences in taste between different cups of Specialty Coffee. Using taste and smell, and applying all their attention and expertise, the competitors CUP CUP will have to identify, as quickly as possible, the cup contain- ing a coffee with a different
