Preparing Your iPads for Q-interactive Chapter 1 Configuring Your iPad® Settings for Q-interactive Before you can administer tests with Q-interactive, you need to complete three tasks: • Configure the Settings for both iPads so they: a) Pair correctly to share stimuli and capture data from each other. b) Display stimuli in a standardized manner. c) Reduce distractions that could disrupt the testing session. • Install the Assess app from the Apple App Store or iTunes. The screenshots in this document were generated from an iPad operating on iOS 11.3.1. If you are familiar with the iPad, you can quickly configure yours with the Q-interactive iPad Configuration Checklist, located here. Other Resources: The information in this chapter is also presented in the tutorial video, Preparing your iPads for Q-interactive, found under the Support tab on Central (i.e. qiactive.com). You can also sign up for the Onboarding Webinar Series here. Becoming Familiar With Your iPad The Front of Your iPad (A) Front Camera. (B) Touchscreen Display. (C) Home Button. To install iTunes on your computer, go to apple.com/itunes and follow the instructions. While you are able to download the app through either a computer or an iPad, the following instructions show how to download the Assess app through the App Store on an iPad. You need to install the Q-interactive Assess app on both iPads. Step 1: In the App Store, go to the Search bar at the top right and type “q-interactive.” The Q-interactive Assess app appears in the Suggestions section. Step 2: Tap GET, and then enter your Apple ID credentials to download the app. Note for iCloud users: For data security reasons, Q-interactive stores data in a file intentionally excluded from iCloud. Assessment data will not be permitted in iCloud nor permitted to sync to the Apple Servers. Copyright © 2018 NCS Pearson, Inc. or its affiliate(s). All rights reserved. All of the settings can be adjusted in the Settings app. Activate Wi-Fi. If you have a secured Wi-Fi connection, Q-interactive can stay connected to the Internet and will save your data to Q-interactive Central throughout the administration. Step 1: Tap Wi-Fi in the menu on the left side of the screen. Step 2: Tap the Wi-Fi switch on the right side of the screen until it changes from white to green and the Wi-Fi and the Network options display. Tap on a network. A check mark will appear once connected. Enable Bluetooth. Q-interactive utilizes a Bluetooth connection to pair the Practitioner and Client iPads. Step 1: Tap Bluetooth in the menu on the left side of the screen. Step 2: Tap the Bluetooth switch on the right side of the screen until it changes from white to green. While you may see Bluetooth enabled devices displayed under either the “My Devices” or “Other Devices” categories, it is important to note that the Q-interactive Bluetooth connection is established within the app (after logging in) and once paired, you will not see your second iPad displayed on this page. Disabling these two settings helps ensure accuracy when entering login credentials and helps address a common login difficulty. Step 1: Tap General in the menu on the left side of the screen, and then select Keyboard on the right side of the screen. Copyright © 2018 NCS Pearson, Inc. or its affiliate(s). All rights reserved.
