Purpose of these kits: Share stories Tips for engaging with this kit: Build relationships Be creative. Have fun Make the experience your own. Time can vary with each kit and each interaction.

1) Read the books with your loved one and look at the pictures. 2) Talk: use the prompts on the back of this page to start a conversation. Contents of Kit: 3) Create a story with the pictures or the items in the kit. If there are stories you remember from your loved ones’ life, use those too. Books MN Regulations Handbook 4) Ask open-ended questions about what they think about the items: H is for Hook Where might you have you used this item before? Basic Fishing-A Beginner's Guide What does it remind you of? Gone Fishing 5) Engage or talk about the 5 Senses: Touch: What does a fish and its bait feel like? Tactile Items Taste: Describe your favorite kind of fish and Fishing bobbers how it's prepared for eating. American Angler Toy Fish Sight: What does a fish look like when it is on the line? Fishes of MN Poster Smell: How does fishing smell? (water, boat engine, bait, fish, etc.) MEternally Photo Cards Sound: waves, splashes, lines being cast and reeled in, etc. 6) Get active. Take a walk to a local dock or pond and look for fish. Fidget Practice your best cast and then "reel" in the big one! Sensory Rollers (set of 3) 7) Music can invoke powerful memories. Even the simple sound of waves lapping on a shore can transport you to another place.

Did everyone have specific jobs to do (get rods ready, pack lunch/cooler, etc)? *What did you do with the fish you caught? ~Did you ? ~Did you put them on a stringer, in a bucket, in a cooler? *Did you clean the fish? Tell us how. *What is your favorite fish to eat? *Do you have fish stories to tell? How big was your biggest fish, or did it get away? *What was in your tackle box? *What is your preferred kind of bait and for which fish? (worms, minnows, grubs, etc.) *Did you dig for worms or buy them? *What types of fishing have you done? ~ ~netting ~ ~ice fishing ~trapping ~hand fishing ~bow fishing
