The project «Our Voice in Europe » was funded with the support of the European Union under the Programme "Europe for Citizens"

Applicable to the Strand 2 – Measure 2.1 "Town-Twinning”

Participation: The project involved 107 citizens, notably 66 participants from the town of Pelplin (), 18 from Alsonemedi (Hungary), 13 from Xgħajra (Malta), 4 from Demir Kapija (Macedonia), 6 from the Comitato Gemellaggi association based in (Italy).

Location/ Dates: The event took place in Pelplin and the nearest region (Poland), from 16/07/2019 to 24/07/2019.

Short description:

The day of 16/07/2019: On their arrival the participants were greeted, provided with basic information about the project plan and with accommodation.

The day of 17/07/2019 there were the participants’ meetings with the authorities of the City and Municipality of Pelplin, a trip to the site of the former Cistercian Abbey in Pelplin followed by the discussion about the historical heritage of Europe. In the afternoon they met the seniors from the Pelplin commune in Kulice.

The day of 18/07/2019 the visitors had the opportunity to learn about the history of the region, made the tour of the medieval castle in .

The day of 19/07/2019 they took part in integrative activities during their informal meetings and walks in small groups, they visited Sopot and then the Museum of World War II in Gdansk.

The day of 20/07/2019 the guests could acquaint themselves with the folk culture of the Kashubian and Kociewie regions due to a visit to the open-air museum at the Wdzydze Fair.

The day of 21/07/2019 the participants discussed about the history and the future of Europe; They paid a visit to the European Solidarity Center in Gdańsk.

The day of 22/07/2019 they had a meeting with the authorities of the Poviat of at the cultural institution in Tczew, they were informed about the work of local government, got involved in a discussion about the problems of local communities in European municipalities; then the participants of the project visited the Nazi mass murder site in Szpęgawsk; in the evening everyone could enjoy their time taking part in feasts and games in Janiszewie (a small village near Pelplin).

The day of 23/07/2019 the participants spend the morning in the Diocesan Library where they listened to the lecture "Europe of the Spirit" and participated in a debate on European values and in a workshop that made them learn some methods of producing paper. They also visited the Diocesan Museum in Pelplin, where the Gutenberg Bible is kept; in the evening an official summary of the project's activities took place.

The day of 24/07/2019 some of the participants departed, the remaining group had the opportunity to gain some knowledge about the conditions in which the city authorities work.

The last group of the participants left Pelplin on 25/07/2019.
