GERALYN DEL CORSO GARNER

Geralyn began studying dance at the age of three and received honors in all of her exams taught under The London Royal Academy of Dance. At age 12, Geralyn auditioned for The School of American Ballet in NYC and was accepted on a full scholarship. She studied with several world renowned teachers from Russia, Denmark, and the United States, including Madame Danilova, Suki Schorer, Stanley Williams and Peter Martins; all of whom were hand picked by Mr. . While attending The School of American Ballet, Geralyn attended summer courses at The Houston Ballet Academy, The School, and The Harkness Ballet. In her youth, Geralyn performed many featured roles with the Ballet, The Berlin Opera Ballet, and The , and was hand picked by Baryshnikov for a televised performance of The American Ballet Theater’s production of “Sleeping Beauty”. Geralyn also performed with such greats as Rudolph Nureyev, Fernando Bujones, and . Upon leaving the School of American Ballet, Geralyn continued her studies with David Howard, Maggie Black, and . At 17, Geralyn went back to Texas to study on a full scholarship with the Houston Ballet Academy and at 19 she returned to New York to audition for The Ballet, a contemporary dance company, where she was accepted as a . She toured the world for 8 yrs. and received rave reviews from The NY Times, The NY Post, USA Today, and The Village Voice, just to name a few. While on tour she also taught master classes at various dance companies. In 1993, Geralyn decided she wanted to audition for Broadway and quickly landed her first principal role in "The Red Shoes". Her other Broadway credits include, "The Phantom of the Opera" (Meg Giry), "Swing!", "Carousel" (Louise), and "Urban Cowboy", all of which she played principal roles as a dancer/singer/actress. Geralyn's television appearances include the 2000 Tony Awards, The Rosie O'Donnell Show, and many Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parades. She has also performed at Lincoln Center, City Center, Carnegie Hall, The House, and Radio City Music Hall with Bernadette Peters, “The Easter Show“, and Disney’s premiere of “The Lion King“. She performed as a guest artist for various dance companies around the country. After Geralyn’s marriage to singer Jamey Garner, she relocated to Nashville where she taught and ran the ballet department at the prestigious competition dance studio, DC Dance Factory, from which two of the students were finalists on the hit TV show, “So You Think You Can Dance”. Geralyn and her husband Jamey are now happily living in Dallas where he sings nightly at the famous “Cowboys/Red River” and she now has the great pleasure of heading up the ballet department for the award winning Plano dance studio, "Dance Industry Performing Arts Center!"
