The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) webpage states that “these grades and ages were chosen because they represent critical junctures in academic achievement.” This year, several Montville High School seniors were selected to take the test which serves as a tool for the government to be able to gauge what the nation’s students know and are capable of accomplishing in mathematics, reading, science, geography, and US history. Students are also tested in other minor areas such as economics. The NCES takes secrecy and Student Athletes Rachael Orbe and Paul Hanrahan security very seriously. Page 1 THE CHIEFTAIN MHS SPORTS 1st Lacrosse Wins for MHS A Good Season By: Meagan McAdams The girls’ basketball team lost in the quarterfinals against Nortre Dame Fairfield in the state tournament. After a devastating loss to NFA on February 16th, the team was determined to win. Each practice ended with junior Cassidy Bundy saying “Run to the sun,” and “Teamwork makes the dream work.” These quotes became the words that the team lived by. “Run to the sun” inspired the girls to play the state championship game at the Mohegan Sun. Although senior Rachael Orbe was out for the second half of the season with an injury, it did not set the team back. Sophomore Taylor LaVallie stepped up to the role of varsity starter, along with freshman Alex Clemons, who earned The boys Lacrosse team at MHS herself a spot on the varsity team. • Introduction
1 Introduction Steven Gerrard and Robert Shail In August 2018, Warner Brothers released their $130- million production The Meg . Based on Steve Alten’s bestselling book Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror (1997), and directed by Jon Turteltaub, the fi lm sees the main character – Jonas Taylor, a deep- sea diver working for the American navy – battle a 75- foot long, 20- million- year- old megalodon shark that has been revived from its deep slumber. The fi lm, a co- production between American and Chinese companies with a Jaws - meets-Jurassic Park advertising campaign, starred British fi lm actor Jason Statham. The aim of this edited collection is to introduce, survey and develop various critical analyses of Statham across not only his fi lm work but his work away from cinema and across a var- iety of transmedia. Film stars are often the mainstay of academic and lay dis- cussion about the latest fi lms and cinematic fads. While genres may fl uctuate in fortune, the fi lm star remains arguably the most important of all cinematic commodities. Film stars sell movies. But they don’t only do this. Over the last twenty years, and since Richard Dyer’s work in Stars ( 1998 ), the study of fi lm stars, celeb- rity and stardom has become the centre for much critical argu- ment. According to Dyer ( 1998 : 1– 4), these critical arguments have usually taken on two perspectives: the social/ cultural con- text, and the semiotic. He argues that these two approaches, where stars are seen as a social phenomenon and that the star is important only because of the fi lm(s) that they appear in, have formed the backbone to much that has been written about movie 2 2 Steven Gerrard and Robert Shail stars.

The first thing you need to keep in mind if you’re going to write a novel about the , which began in and ended in , is the multitude of stuff that hasn’t happened yet. I mean no Sixties ( - ), no Seventies ( - ), no Eight - ies ( - ). We’re sitting in The Georgia, and as far as the mini goes we’re tabulae rasae . John, Paul, George are in Hamburg but we’re in the cellar in Vancouver – and what is Vancouver? An overgrown small town, more wood than brick, more brick than concrete, the laws are so blue we can’t be sitting there on a Sunday, and unless we’ve found a female over twenty-one to get us into the Ladies & Escorts side of the beer parlour, to meet other females, why, we’re sitting in a space that’s strictly men only. The expectation is frontier town, words like rugged and twofisted float, definitely not or . Mind you we’re college eggheads, and other such are present, but some of the patrons are loggers or off the boats or psychos from Saskatchewan seeking a new love or an old grudge to be settled by punching some egghead and they’re getting drunk fast. Though, being Canadian, even this rough trade has training in a certain mild-mannered benev - olence, but only up to a point. You have to remember that they’re not packing guns, and, seeing it’s The Georgia, prob - ably not carrying knives, either. But they’re not without prej - udices and they’re paying taxes to keep us in school doing fuck all while they’re bustin’ their butts – and tonight they’re getting drunk .

D Mots-clés : apprentissage, acculturation, sondage, entrevue, Franco-ontariens Département de communication Université d’Ottawa © Geoffroy Legault-Thivierge, Ottawa, Canada, 2016 On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer.
