MYLK2, also named as MLCK2, belongs to the protein kinase superfamily and CAMK Ser/Thr protein kinase family. Background Information MYLK2 catalyze the reaction: ATP + [myosin light-chain] = ADP + [myosin light-chain] phosphate. MYLK2 is implicated in the level of global muscle contraction and cardiac function. MYLK2 phosphorylates a specific serine in the N-terminus of a myosin light chain. Mutation of MYLK2 will cause the cardiomyopathy familial hypertrophic (CMH).
