He was the chairman of the board of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden between 1998 and 2003, where he remains a trustee, and has lectured on art appreciation at museums, universities, and art schools across America. His personal collection includes works by Agnes Martin, Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, and Gerhard Richter, to name just a few. On Friday, April 5, he and his wife, Aimee, are opening their home to you to experience these works with them and learn the backstories that only they know. Robert Parker considers the Etude Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon to be an underrated wine (he gives it a 90 and James Suckling a 95) and this last vintage of Cabernet produced by Etude is in short supply due to barrels destroyed in the 2013 earthquake so snap this up. Disgorged in March 2015 with eight grams dosage, the bright colored 2008 has a very clear, fresh, pure and intense, as well as complex nose, with brioche, biscuit and prominent Chardonnay aromas. Pure, dry, straight and elegant on the palate, this is a refreshing and lifted, but also complex and expressive Brut. It also has tension, grip and a stimulating salinity in the finish. This Champagne is excellent and should be served with seafood. Vincent & Sophie Morey Montrachet 1er cru Les Embrazees 2015 Here the ripe oak-trimmed nose is sufficiently reduced to mask the supporting fruit at present. There is both good volume and intensity to the vibrant and equally mineral-driven flavors that exude a bracing salinity on the longer, drier and more complex finale. This beauty is worth a look. Chateau Climens Barsac 2009 The 2009 Climens is certainly more expressive on the nose compared to the 2010 Climens with potent honeysuckle, fresh pear and orange blossom that gently unfurl from the glass. Compared to the 2009 Rieussec for example, this is powerful but not quite as flamboyant. The palate is just fantastic, so energetic and tensile with layers of minerally, honeyed fruit laced with spice, sea salt, a touch of licorice and quince. 7026 Fine Spanish Red Pair Two bottles of La Rioja Alta Rioja 904 Gran Reserva 2009 This super classical cuvée showcases the wines from Haro, silky and elegant after long aging in oak and a good future in bottle. 2009 was a powerful vintage, ripe but with good balance. The blend is approximately 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano, fermented in stainless steel with a 78-day natural malolactic. The aging was in four-year-old American oak barrels crafted by their own coopers; the wines aged from April 2010 until April 2014. During that time, the wine was racked every six months, to be finally bottled in November 2014. This is usually my favorite wine from the portfolio, where the balance between aging and youth reaches its highest point. It's developed but it keeps some fruit character, plenty of spices and balsamic aromas. Always a classic and never disappointing, the 2013 vintage won the praise of all major critics (98 from Suckling, 96 from Robert Parker, 93 Wine Spectator) with Robert Parker raving that "this edition of Ornellaia is beautifully tonic and shapely" and "the bouquet is very developed in terms of aromas this year with beautiful notes of dark fruit, tobacco and spice. 9004 "Pattern & Contrast" - Second Grade Second graders looked at the collage work of Henri Matisse to form their mini collage. They learned of the artist's use of biomorphic shapes - or in other words, shapes that remind us of nature. Their focus for this piece was to repeatedly cut biomorphic shapes to create a pattern using contrasting colors. We then came up with a way to combine collages that reflected a visually satisfying balance of color and shape. Approximately 27"x32" in size. Second Grade Class

9005 "Community" - Third Grade Third graders have been learning a lot about portraiture and facial proportions this semester. This piece is a collection of portraits that expresses their skill in accurately drafting a self portrait as well as a sense of community as a group of unique and diverse individuals. Class Projects 9006 "Unity & Variety" - Fourth Grade Inspired by the geometric patterns of a classic quilt of many names: Wanderer of the Wilderness, Rob Peter to Pay Paul, and the Mill Wheel to name a few, 4th graders learned how textile design can display visual themes of variety and unity. They each created their own radially symmetrical designs that were split into quarters, rearranged and joined with the work of their classmates resulting in a collection of concave and convex curves making a bold and colorful statement of collaboration.
