- Born in Reggio Emilia on 21/08/1946. Degree in Law from the University of Modena. Post- graduation academic career with a focus on Commercial Law.
- From 1973 to 1986, Professor of Banking Regulation at the University of Modena's Department of Economics and Business, first as a lecturer and later as an Associate Professor (from 1984). From 1984 to 1986, additional role as Professor of Commercial Law for the same University Department.
- From 1987 to 2008, Professor of Commercial Law at the Department of Law of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
- From 1 November 2008 to 31 October 2016, Professor of Commercial Law at the Law Department of the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna.
- Member of the editorial board of the journal Giurisprudenza Commerciale and member of the scientific committee of the journal Banca Impresa e Società.
Author of numerous publications on company and banking law, with a special focus on the administration of joint-stock companies and the governance of companies operating in the banking industry.
